Scientists Discover The Oldest, Largest Body Of Water In Existence

... Sadly, Professor Higgins realized it was just a drop of perspiration on the eyepiece.

***

That's a lot of water.

But it makes me wonder something. If one quasar from 1.6 billion years after the Big Bang has more water than 28 galaxies, and a quasar is at the center of an early galaxy, then galaxies should have 28 times more water than we think, though some of it might be lost to the central black hole or ended up in stars.

It's a sad reflection on the state of the internet that I read as far as 'Scientists discover the oldest, largest body..." and immediately finished with 'Yo momma'.

The actual article is fascinating, though dealing on such a huge scale I can't get my mind around it.

The article would be a tad more interesting if more details on this find would be given, what exactly it is, theories on how it was formed and how it stays in this form? I mean the article just kept talking about different ways to equate the size of the thing to how much water it is.

We get it, it's a lot of fucking water. HOW IS IT THERE?!

Read it again

Ah, yeah, in that one paragraph. Yeah, easy to miss when pretty much the rest of the article is saying: "OMG ALOT OF FUCKING WATER! IT WOULD TAKE 10 MILLION MICHAEL PHELPS TO SWIM THROUGH THIS IN 5 MILLION OLYMPICS!!!!"

Pretty fascinating, none the less.

One shouldn't expect good science news from FastCompany. I am surprised they're even still around.

Anyway, you can read the actual paper here, if you want the nitty gritty details.
