Science fiction shows to waste my time on?

What about The X-Files? It's one of the better Sci-Fi shows from what I can tell (mid way through season 2 right now) that doesn't appear on your list. I'd also recommend Babylon 5, but I don't know enough about the series to fully comment yet (just started season 2), but I do like it, even though the list of things I don't like outweigh the things I like. It has a certain quality that I'm really digging.

Lets see, i dislike DS9 but i did like the B5 pilot. I love TNG and TOS and Voy and like ENT. I would like to thank every one for their assistance. I am going to start Firefly and Continue with BSG. And start stargate SG1

If you didn't like DS9, I doubt you'll like nuBSG. It's DS9, only moreso. Ron Moore was frustrated by the limitations of Star Trek and nuBSG was the result.

And as noted, B5 also has a great deal of similarity to DS9. What all three have in common is long, complex story arcs; more political and social commentary than is generally true for the other space opera series; and complex characterizations, where nobody is really good or really evil. So it really depends on whether you like that sort of thing, but if you did, I think you'd like DS9.

early DS9 is much more like TNG.
In S1, sure, which has a lot of boring, one-off episodes that frankly should be skipped. As of S2, the political Bajoran plot arcs kick in, and by the end of the season, the Dominion story starts.

As for Maestro, that's quite a list, I think you've seen almost everything worthwile. Have you checked VOY and ENT (they might not be up to DS9's level but hey, they're Star Trek). Also: Futurama (but since you don't like Farscape, maybe you won't like the anarchic humor) and the original Outer Limits (basically, a more sci-fi heavy variation on the original Twilight Zone, not quite as good but certainly in the same ballpark).

I'd like to hijack this thread and ask for similar help. I'm looking for more SFF stuff to watch, and the well is starting to run a bit thin. Let me give you likes and dislikes, and perhaps someone could help me discover something new too.

How about Seaquest? I think you'd probably also like early Sliders. Earth 2 is worth checking out, although I'm not sure if you'll like it.

If you like the current Doctor Who I'd suggest Merlin and Robin Hood. Both shows were made for the same BBC timeslot that Doctor Who is in.

If you dislike DS9 and like all the other Treks, I have a feeling you might like SG1 over BSG. DS9 is my favorite series (early SG1 my 2nd) but I know it's harder to get into. I think SG1 is similar in style and feel to Voy, Ent and TOS, with likable characters and accessible plots, focusing more on one-off adventures and fun episodes.

BSG and DS9 have more continuity and arc. I don't like BSG's characters and the writing couldn't save it for me. If I didn't love DS9's characters so much, I would not have enjoyed it very much either.

I recommend Blake's 7 to anyone that likes classic Doctor Who, Farscape to anyone that likes alien creatures, and Deep Space Nine and or Babylon 5 to anyone with good taste. :techman:
