Science Fiction as a Personality Disorder

While I'm not fluent or even conversational in Klingon, I've picked up a handful of phrases from the movies and can even half-ass my way through one drinking song, all of which came in handy during my last improv comedy show when we had to do funny accents and one of the audience suggestions was Klingon. Even for all the geek pedigree in the troupe (including an obsessive Stargate SG-1 O'Neill/Carter 'shipper and a frequent Star Wars Rebel Legion costumer), I'm the only one that even knows enough Klingon to reasonably fake it properly.

...sf fandom is only a personality disorder if you do it right.

Few, if any, of our members are outright idiots so please enjoy this, Klaus: That may be the smartest thing I've seen anyone post on here in the last 6 months. :techman:

The stupid smart people have no chance against the race of smart stupid people. Today, I am a klingon. Tommorrow, who knows.

for a joke... they're spending a lot of money for it..... several billboards in various large cities around each state.... web pages (albeit that's cheap) but does cost money too...

me wonders how much money their willing to spend on a joke... and how much they spent already...
me also wonders just how close the government is to perfecting that kind of drug...
I don't think that possibility is very far away.

It's not a joke, it's a study.

Joke "A Story with a humorous climax?"

It's already well known that SF fans tend to get the label geek/nerd and all that goes with it. Just remember that people called geeks/nerds quite often go on to bcome Engineers, Scientists, Doctors, Astronauts etc...

So without geeks/nerds we propbable wouldn't have technology such as the Internet

you know.... if this not a joke then it's pretty scary... can you trust your government, NOT to put this or some kind of similar drug to control the mass's and what they think....

first it's science fiction.... next it's what you think and feel as long as it's along party lines.
