Science Fiction as a Personality Disorder

Science Fiction as a Personality Disorder

There is a pretty good sized amount of difference between being a fan of sci-fi and taking it seriously enough to learn the language of a fictional race of space neanderthals.

I imagine the marketers behind it would love to see this thread.
Reflecting on it, it's quite incredible that it happened. I would like to see more would be marketing subterfuge in the future. Advertising that provokes, not panders, can be refreshing.

Well, it certainly got us talking about it. I guess that's the point, huh.

This advertising does bring out an issue that kinda erks me sometimes; the fact that people who enjoy this livelihood and the entertainment it produces are "odd", which is what I think the point was in the beginning of this thread. I still get "the look" whenever I talk about going to a convention. Of course, what's cool about being us is that we can recite quotes from cools movies like "Spaceballs" and say "evil will always triumph because good is dumb".

It's all in 1984.

Right, because all smart people are socially awkward.
