Well, tone is sometimes problematic on the Internet. Particularly when the reader is tone-deaf.

Since it's a given that we'll see some Kirk kung-fu maybe the Enterprise will transform into warrior mode or something too. 
The "Trek heroes as astronauts" thing is somewhat undermined by the actual TOS writing, in which "fallible underling" characters are quite prevalent. In "Man Trap" already, the ship is full of lowly deck-sweepers who operate on lust rather than intellect and thus fall victim to the salt vampire one after another. There's more "Forbidden Planet" influence there than anything else, and enlisted slackers and other military stereotypes are an essential element to that.
Of course, that's no longer the writing fashion: if there are to be fallible side or main characters, they are more likely to be angsty overachievers than laid-back commoners - indeed the "astronaut type"!

I liked what those interviewed had to say - but you'd think the final writer of the article would check her facts in that Enetrprise went four rocky seasons (not three).
