Schematics made with Vance's toolkit

howdy evryone I like the ships that are being done on this thread and have a question
now I understand that to use the toolkits vance puts out is ok providing he is properly credited with them. What I was wondering is that is it ok to modify a toolkit part if vance is credited with the original part or is modifiny it a no no?

Only Vance can give a final answer to this. I personally assume, that modifying the parts is OK. almost all of my schematics feature modified parts.

That's my take on it as well. I just make sure to give Vance credit and add "[Some] components are modified versions of those found in Vance's tookits." Since I've posted such schematics to this forum and Vance hasn't complained to me, I can only assume he is ok with it. Hopefully the master will post here and clarify the situation for us.

This is what i was working on:

Insurgent class corvette

The heavy phaser cannon emplacement is inspired by Darkwing_Duck's Mustang.

WOW! Nice work! I've never inspired anyone before! :)

Here's the original, if anyone's interested:

BTW, does anyone know why when I try to save any of these images it comes out as a 1 x 1 gif file on my end?

I have no idea. I do not experience any problems there, maybe your browser is the culprit (the browsers i tried to save pictures successfully are Firefox, Safari, K-Meleon).

Anyway here is my album, where you can find my stuff: http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh148/Norgrimm/
Maybe that works better for you.

This is a WIP I've been fooling around with for a while. It is based on one of Matt Jefferies early Enterprise sketches and could be a predecessor to my Yorktown-Class. This is truly a rough draft, even the name of the ship is just a place holder at this point. Comments, suggestions and constructive criticism is, of course, always welcome!

@Nathan: Good Job. ;) A worthy successor to the Overkill.

@Eliyahu: Nice! I've never found the time doing something based on that one.
Might i suggest to modify the bridge to the Daedalus-type to comply with the era of the nacelles and registry?

Sean - I didn't even notice that there were two Daedelus type primary hulls in Vance's toolkits, I just grabbed one. I will likely change them out now that I'm aware of it! Thanks! I'm actually thinking of redoing the nacelles a bit, as I'm not 100% happy with the design of these.

PS - Cool design! I'd considered doing something with that layout, but nothing ever clicked for me.

Here are a couple of concepts I found on the web:

Karim Nassar's Daedalus:

Nassar seems to raise up the sphere by moving the connection to the top of the secondary hull. I would go further by making the connection tube meet the sphere right behind the bottom dome of the sphere.

Starfleet Museum - Moskva-Class Cruisers

Vance's Armstrong Class Cruiser reminds me of Masao's Moskva, although I'd like to see the dish moved down to the front of the secondary hull.

I'd love to see if anyone in this thread could try to "kit" ideas like these.

Kaiser and Sean, for whatever reason, my problem saving pics only applies to you two...other peoples' pics save just fine....weird...
