Scheduled rewatch?

Two months from today, I will be starting a weekly re-watch of DS9 based on the dates the episodes originally aired. I plan to post my comments day-of or during the week following each episode's "air date." And since I'm following the original air dates, season 1 will end of June 20 and Season 2 will start on September 26, and so on. So...the rewatch will last 6.5 years! Am I crazy? Sure! Will this subforum still be around by the end of this (June 2, 2021)? Oh yeah!

The purpose of this post is to see if any other fans would have an interest in rewatching the series weekly along with me? Are you crazy? LOL! I think it would be cool to have a group of us rewatching and commenting at the same time while it's still fresh for each of us, and experiencing the show as a weekly series again. For me, it will be the first time watching it as a weekly series since my first time was a Netflix binge.

We'll start January 3, 2015. I will start the rewatch thread a week prior just as a reminder...if anyone else is up for it, that is. I think this could be fun!

I don't need much of a reason to rewatch DS9--it goes down so easily, I am happy to have it on in the background or whenever I want "light" viewing (that is to say, something familiar). However, I don't want to watch the series in sequence again. I'll drop into the discussion every few episodes, I am certain.

I almost considered doing this with Persona 3 on the actual dates in the game. Ended up not doing it, because it's kind of a silly thing to do.

I would have trouble watching it so infrequently! But then again, I fall asleep to Netflix every night, so I am a bad example.

It sounds great but too long for me! I prefer the binge watch.

I'm down for this idea! I really enjoy the TNG rewatch threads by Trekker4747. The infrequent doesn't bother me since its a great show anyways

I might be able to do this. It wouldn't be a re-watch for me really however. I've only seen season 7 in full. The rest in dribs and drabs.

I've tried to watch, but I've never found it interesting enough not to get distracted by other shows. It just isn't a show I can binge watch and that is how I've always attempted in the past. Perhaps if I do one a week I'll have better luck.

Ofcourse if I decide at some point that I'm rather enjoying it, then I'm sure I'll leave you behind and start binge watching.

I have often thought about doing something like this, but never actually found the time. I'm curious how the original broadcast schedule affects the viewing experience. As someone who watched all of Trek on German television, I'm accustomed to rather unusual schedules. I think I've seen most of Deep Space Nine on a daily basis on workday afternoons. Unfortunately, German TV tends to run shows into the ground with the way they present these shows.

I guess it will be hard to resist the temptation to watch the conclusion to a two-parter right away. Also, after a mediocre episode it will be tough to find the motivation to keep on watching.

So yes, I will try to be a part of this. I'm just sad that we can't do it with the blu-rays already.

Are you making it a weekly rewatch as in the TNG thread, or are you going to have the three month 'hiatus' and all? That might end up in lost interest IMHO. Also, I was kind of waiting for this series to come out in HD before buying....

...If that ever comes. :'-(

I hadn't seen the TNG thread. I'm going by the month/day broadcast schedule, including breaks between seasons.

Not sure if this is still interesting for some of you, but tomorrow would be the day for the pilot, so here's a heads-up. Regardless of the fact whether a reviewing thread is still happening or not, I will try to adhere to the rewatch schedule.

Sorry, catching up after the holidays has gotten the best of me. For some reason I had 1/6 on the brain. I forgot it was 1/3! I will start a rewatch thread shortly. Thanks for the reminder M!
