Scents -for men.

Well, as a woman I can tell y'all that I love the smell of Old Spice. For some reason it just smells clean, not so perfume-y. ....if that makes sense.

Agreed. It's also one of the few scents that doesn't seem to give me any sort of an allergic reaction, which is always a plus.

I use Gillette deodorant/antiperspirant every day. In addition, I have Tag body spray (Axe is just too damned overpriced if you ask me). Lately I've been using CK Eternity cologne only sparingly (I used to wear it quite often). I used to know this guy at work who marinated in Tommy Hilfiger cologne; he probably thought it was cool, but it was sickening! :scream: People, please use cologne in moderation!

Personally, I think women generally smell better than guys. I love the body sprays and lotions they use (especially watermelon and floral scents).

Addendum: As for shower gel, I usually prefer Old Spice, Lever, or Axe.

^That's funny. I often wear men's fragrances as I prefer them to a lot of the floral girlie scents.

Really? Cool. :) May I inquire as to which fragrances you prefer? I know there are unisex brands like CK One. I generally like the scent of a woman in any case (unless she smells like cigarette smoke).

I really, really love a scent called Azzaro (the 'for men' version, not the women's scent). It's been around almost forever, and I've worn it on and off. I quite like some from the Boss range, and many masculine scents suit me more than perfume. Right now I have a cheap old M&S aftershave called Harvard for moments when I want to smell less floral. There used to be one called Safari I liked.

In girlie scents, I choose musks over most floral, except for odd occasions when I like jasmine and lotus blossum. Oddly, I dislike Old Spice (and Brut).

Soap is always a good way to go. Like, actual soap, used daily. Not some nasty perfumy cheap-ass body wash. Soap. As in "clean person" smell.

Axe everything should be banned for the good of everyone. It smells horrible. I mean, it's really, really bad. Part of that is that people who use it use like 4 different forms of it, they bathe in in, wash their hair with it, over-style their hair with it, spray it all over themselves. It doesn't even smell good in moderation.

That's your opinion. I'd prefer your opinion not take away a product I use...
oh wait it can't. :D

Most people I've encountered or who I've told about it agree it actually
smells good and actually cleans you and helps keep you smelling clean.
Soap is oily and gross, and rarely does it actually smell good for more than
an hour.

Yeah, I'm not allergic but it does seem to somewhat irritate my nose and throat when people have so much cologne or perfume on that you can taste them 5 minutes after they've left.

If you're a guy and you feel the need to wear perfume, what kind (or indeed: brand) would you prefer? -and why?

We just did a perfume/scent thread within the last couple of weeks but I guess it was fairly girl-centric in terms of replies.

Still, my thoughts from that thread:

I almost hesitate to post it, because I like to think of it as my little secret, but my favourite cologne is Creed Silver Mountain Water.

I wear some other scents at various times, but that one is my favourite. I also really like Frederic Malle's Eau d'Hiver but it shares some notes with the Silver Mountain Water, and overall I prefer the Creed fragrance.

Today, I'm wearing the Eau d'Hiver I mention above.

I'm sadly a Lynx convert. shower gel and deodorant is Lynx 'Click'.
I have some Lacoste stuff for posher occasions.
