Scenes where Kirk is slower than the audience

How about "Wolf in the Fold"? Kirk sends Scotty and a female tricorder technician off to be alone in an isolated room, despite having just recently found Scotty standing over a stabbed woman in the street with the knife in his hand and no explanation.

If her parents ever read the mission report, they'd have a good case for Kirk's court-martial regardless of the Redjack angle. Kirk was incredibly reckless, or "slow" beyond all belief, to put her in that position.

It's weird there wasn't a redshirt with her, especially given how so many of them show up to be toast during Coon's reign, but I guess that would undercut the show's statement about preying on women because of their susceptibility to falling prey to terror. If you had to show a security guy doing the Chekov scream, and then had Kirk run in and see that guy AND Lt Tracey dead, it might have given greater cred.

Kirk also gave the order to "energise defense screens" in TWOK. Who knows perhaps that prevent even more damage.
