Scariest sight in all of Star Trek? (for the characters)

Locutus. I can't imagine anyone in that universe being more horrified than right then. That was seriously shit bricks like never before time, right there
What's funny is that like five minutes later Kirk and Rand are laughing about Bones being a luddite about transporters, so apparently they got over it.

I usually make it a habit of avoiding YouTube comments, but this one was pretty good:

McCoy: I swear, Jim, one of these days, this blasted transporter is going to scatter me halfway across the galaxy!
Kirk: Nonsense, Bones. The transporter is perfectly safe.
McCoy: All right, well where's our new science officer, Commander Sonak? I'd like to meet him.
Kirk: Uhhhhh...

I'll add one, actually. The moment the first photon torpedo impacts Kronos One in TUC. It's not only obviously a shock, it not only represents a potential utter failure of Kirk's mission, but it's a moment that could start a war. And it happens on Kirk's watch.

These mostly seem pretty reserved. Sure it's "scary" to be put in danger, but that happens every week. TOS could really do shock way over and above that, though, such as Corbomite Manoever... the ship filling the screen. Only unremastered, by the way. Remastered moderated the contrast in size, and distracted the viewer from the shock with irritating, pointless details on the ball.

Then there was the big damn paramecium in space, Immunity Syndrome. And the Doomsday Machine.
