Savannah class Cargo ship

Something I did over the past couple of days when I felt like drawing, but couldn't be arsed with any of my existing designs, I wanted to do something simpler. It's a small cargo ship that I named after the NS Savannah, a nuclear powered cargo-passenger ship.



Although the ship is just under 300m long with it's maximum load-out, it runs with a crew of just 11, the Captain, 2 senior officers and 8 crewmen. There a 7 decks, including a small shuttlebay with a single shuttlecraft and a few workbees. Launch date of around 2380.

I used sketchup to make a mockup of the warp module to help make sure the various elevations matched, which is why it's so boxy.

I'll probably work up some proper stats and maybe some background on it in a day or so.

Hmm, given the fact that she is from the late 24th Century, I cannot help but feel that she should be more curvier, and less angular, especially in the impulse and deflector modules, similar to how the sides of the cargo modules have a curve, but given your explanation of how you used sketch-up, and had to make them this way for consistency, that is understandable.

Besides, there aren't many who have ventured into making civilian starships, so you don't exactly have much to work from for inspiration.

When I see the modular setup and the angular sides, I cannot help but think of Dyson Yoyodyne, and wonder if perhaps they had a hand in designing the Savannah class. Speaking of which, I think there was an S.S. Savannah of the DY series.
