"Saturn's Children" Question

Sorry if this has come up before. Seeing as how "Saturn's Children" is the DS9 entry for the Mirror Universe trade paperbacks, and with the developments in Warpath (which I just finished finally, and it was great), does the novel tie into the DS9 relaunch?

^ It ties in insofar as Saturn's Children bridges the gap between "The Emperor's New Cloak" and the MU elements of Warpath (and the forthcoming Fearful Symmetry).

Awesome, thanks for the fast response. You just sold me on the trade paperback. :D

^ Well, I was motivated, since I wrote the first of the three novels in that book. :D

No offense to any of its writers who might be watching this, but...I admit I am very skittish about any of the Obsidian Alliances stories. I'm much more interested in the *rise* of the Empire than the fall of it.

That being said: If anyone can reassure me that Spock's plan, as outlined in The Sorrows of Empire, has not been forgotten...and that we will eventually see the fall of the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance...I might change my tune.

Since the DS9 Relaunch has now has a story thread tying into the Mirror Universe, your answers may be found in those books.

I am familiar with how DS9-R has handled the MU. And it was, AFAIK, all written *before* The Sorrows of Empire, so they never had the chance to deal with Spock's plan.

The only book I'm aware of that could possibly mention it, is Fearful Symmetry, and given how many delays that book has suffered, I am seriously wondering whether we will ever see it at all. :(

Unless I'm mistaken, though, both "series" have the same editor, Marco Palmieri, so I'm sure there is some consistency between any shared plot threads. :)

And considering Fearful Symmetry got rescheduled with a new author (and this was the only time thus far it has happened), I think it'd be a fair assumption that this time should work out. And if not, they'll just get another author... and another... and another... :rommie:

Nothing has been forgotten, even if it doesn't have an immediate payoff. But as for what that payoff's going to be... naturally it's not going to be given away here.

I can tell you that Spock's plan does play a role in my Voyager MU tale in Obsidian Alliances. :)

IMO you should really check out Saturn's Children if you've read Warpath, as it fills in the gaps between it and the end of the series. Plus, I wouldn't be suprised if the events that take place in it play a role in Fearful Symmetry since it now has the Mirror Universe title on it now.

It just seems that (given the synopsis I read on memory alpha) it's...too depressing for my tastes. Like all the DS9 mirror episodes were.

^ An odd comparison, since many of the DS9 mirror universe episodes were patently absurd.

Perhaps, but (apart from "Crossover") they usually involved more than "The Klingon/Cardassian Alliance tortures and kills everyone and the rebellion loses". :p
