Sarek, Spock and the new movie

it is possible that spock and pike had already served together on another ship.
and that the events of the cage had already happened.

though you make some good points about spocks estrangment with sarek it does seem he kept in touch with amanda and had gone back home about three years prior to babel.

Dating is illogical. I'm pretty sure Vulcans simply use eHarmony to select a mate.

In all seriousness though, with their population down to 10,000 members or so, perhaps they will need to pursue some kind of reuinification with the Romulans sooner rather than later.
You might want to look up some of the previous threads on this topic. It's been discussed at length; and also even up to and including pro-Vulcan humanoids, like the Mintakins.
Here, for example.

... One thing I have never understood (and perhaps somebody here knows the answer to this question), is what was the original reason for making him half-human...
Originally the execs wanted the alien gone along with the female XO (from the original pilot with Pike as Captain) because they just didn't feel audiences would respond to such radical choices. Roddenberry knew what a good thing was and they wood the suits by softening Spock's bloodline and making him half human.

Thank you,

I thought it was probably something along these lines. While it was pointed out at certain times throughout the series, Spock never really seemed to provide anything other than a Vulcan point of few. Compared to the examples we have, of mixed-species characters, as the Trek universe evolved Spock was very one sided.

Especially considering the other Vulcans we end up getting to know in later series, Spock never really seemed to be any more emotionally conflicted than any other Vulcan.

It's also clear to me that once enlisted in Starfleet, Spock's path changes radically as the Narada has drastically altered events at Starfleet. The Enterprise is rolling off construction much later, and probably a much different vessel than the original. He serves with Christopher Pike, but he does not serve with him on board the Enterprise. Both Pike and Spock are assigned to Starfleet Academy where they have different, but intertwined careers.

In the end, Spock and Sarek do develop a relationship reminiscent of TOS, as do Spock and Pike. Where they go from here though becomes significantly different.

During the Kobyashi Maru test, isn't Spock referred to by rank - specifically "commander". now given he could either be full rank or a lt.cdr so assuming that he didn't do a Kirk and had been in for some time he could of served as aboard a starship before rotating to SFA as an instructor.

Or he could of been an REMF the whole time only serving planetside.

Meh...I know its Worf.

If you want to look for things to get upset about I can point you to a host of other typos in my post. First morning back at work after a long 3 day weekend. Multi-tasking, while typing a post about Star Trek, in kind of an off the top of my head ramble and lots of typos are getting in to be sure. I'm not really in the habit of proofreading my forum posts, but after re-reading it, perhaps I should start.

I somehow also managed to type "races" as "raises". No idea where I would have thought that spelling was acceptable...or that it even makes any sense at all. I left the "c" out of Spock one of the times, wrote "existance" instead of "existence" and I'm sure that's far from all.

But hey, since you corrected the spelling, clearly you understood who I was talking about and I got the point across.

just blame 'em on Word-Check.

I like your basic point(s). keep on posting, and welcome to the board!

Brutal Strudal, we know Sarek has a penchant for earth girls.

And when that earth girl is Jennifer Morrison? It's not exactly trading up from Winona Ryder but it sure as sehlat sh*t ain't trading down, either.

Besides, just as BoT is a thinly disguised remake of The Enemy Below, Star Trek 03 could be a thinly disguised remake of Stepbrothers.

Brutal Strudel, in the novelization, Winona is married to the guy on the phone in the corvette. Some people said the guy on the phone in the corvette is the uncle and some said the husband, and one said he could be both!

Jennifer Morrison is a really pretty person; no step down.

I'll be waiting with bated breath for your fanfic.

Wait till I get to the one where Kirk and Spock, because of a technicality, have to go back and repeat their freshman years at the academy as--oh, you're gonna love this--roommates!
