Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned British

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

"Most of our imports come from overseas."
- President George W. Bush

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

^True, not many come from Canada or Mexico.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Uh. Actually she was right. She expressed it poorly, but it does turn out the Redcoats captured Revere that night and he did tell them the militia was rising.

Actually, by how she was expressing herself, she made it clear that the ride of Paul Revere, not his subsequent capture, had the purpose of also warning the British. So sorry, you lose as well.
How do I lose? If you are mistaking my post as evidence that I am a fan of Palin, you obviously haven't been paying attention to my posts. I think she's a dangerous idiot.

I simply believe in setting the record straight (a throwback to my days as a newspaper reporter and copy editor) -- even if the remarks were presented in a bizarre, roundabout way -- and she was apparently right. Revere was captured by the British and in some likelihood spoke to his captors.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

^Which is not what Palin said. Palin claimed that Revere's mission was to inform the british, which is blatantly incorrect. Just because at some point Revere was interrogated at gun point does nothing to exonerate her.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

SNL doesn't need to parody her. She does an act all by herself.:rommie:

But really. What did she do to get Alaska to vote her into anything much less governer?

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Probably not a lot of "gotcha journalism" in Alaska. Read: they didn't bother asking her any questions.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Revere was only trying to warn the Middlesexians. He didn't care about anyone else.

Last night it was funny. Brian Williams on the NBC nightly news was noticeably irritated at her assertion that this was another attempt by the media in a 'gottcha question.'

Williams noted that Palin was only asked how her trip was proceeding and she got herself into this mess by answering a simple question with this nonsense.

Williams typically is a very objective straight shooter when it comes to reporting the news and I had to laugh as he was irritated by her claim that she was somehow being tricked into answering this badly.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Well, remember, "gotcha journalism" also included simply lobbing a NERF-ball question at her with "What kind of media do you read?" and her rambling on about reading "all kinds" and then talking about how Alaska isn't some far-away place disconnected from the rest of the modern world.

And I think people trying to use the capture of Revere and any claims and "confessions" he made during captivity is really trying to Monday-morning quaterback for Palin as it's obvious from the initial stammering that is not what she's talking about.

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Maybe she thought Revere was trying to warn all 57 states Obama visited awhile back? :wtf:

Ah Spocked, you fair minded right wing apologist. Leave it to you to compare a momentary slip of the tongue to a conscious and repeated fabrication by a proven liar. You're such a jackanape, you crazy diamond!

Re: Sarah Palin stands by her version of history - Revere warned Briti

Yes, Palin was definitely referring to an obscure letter and not Paul Revere's famous ride.

The best summation of this whole situation I read came from a social conservative blogger ironically enough:

Headline: "Palin throws racket, accidentally gets ball over net"
Sub headline: "Proclaimed a tennis genius by adoring fans"

Uh huh. Yep, just like Christine O'Donnell accidentally fell into the understanding that the words church and state don't actually appear in the constitution but it's understood that way.
