And we're back... in time.

London 1898.

I rather enjoyed this premiere episode of Season 4, and am looking forward to seeing events unfold accordingly.

Of note, Agam Darshi's Kate Freelander seems to be MIA in the opening credits so looks like some changes have been made to the cast yet again.

It looks like "The Five" plots will continue to pop up here and there also. (Can't say I'm sorry about that, as it's consistently been a personal favorite.)

I thought this episode was fantastic. I loved seeing Watson again. I didn't notice the Darshi thing. It is sad she's no longer a regular, she really grew on me last season. Hopefully she'll make a lot of guest appearances as the season unfolds.

So if the timeline's permanently changed, how in blazes will events unfold to allow the events of last season's finale, to remain virtually unchanged when Magnus ends her 'vacation' and steps back into her life after her past present self time tripped back???

With Adam's daughter now dead, he has no reason to search for a cure, never terrorizes original past Helen, doesn't fall off the mountain, isn't semi rescued by John, doesn't drift to Hollow Earth, never experiments with time shifting, never tries to kill Magnus, who never ventures to Hollow Earth, which Adam then destroys, and the new abnormals never come to the surface world.....And will Fargo from Eureka show up to provide support from Global Dynamics? ;)

Oy...timey whimey stuff gives me a headache...:guffaw:

It was a great opener, and I'm excited to see how they handle things from now on.

Finally got to see this, this morning (Missed it on Friday, due to being deathly ill with a cold/flu, and On Demand didn't put it up until after I went to bed last night).

I really enjoyed it. The episodes focusing on the Five rarely disappoint :techman:. Definitely a different opener than I expected. I expected to see more blowups with the refugee camp people/beings, and a move further towards all out war.

@timothy, boy wouldn't that chap Adam's hide, if Magnus' daughter suddenly was rewritten to be alive again from the history changes. I'm sure, even though it was his shot, he probably will still blame Helen for his daughter's death (That was pretty cruel of the writers, to finally cure her, and then take her away from him, though his own actions)

I heard rumors that they wanted to use Ashley for a story last season, but, they couldn't match up schedules properly.

Nice to see they gave Sanctuary back the Friday Night slot after Wrestling, it's always done well there. So, what's the schedule this time around? Is it 13eps straight thru, 2 blocks of 10eps, or a single block of 10 episodes for S4? I seem to recall S4 was supposed to be 13 episodes straight through. IMDB shows 10 episodes for S4 (Though, they never list the second block of 10, while the first block of 10 is airing). Is Sanctuary still safe to continue? I recall this season may be it's last (Though that may be remembering my fears for Sanctuary in the Eureka ending thread?)

Boy, this show isn't so popular on the board, eh? I'm only the 5th post on the thread, and the episode aired almost a week ago, now. :(

she still dies, so he still has that drive to go back and change things, though instead of the cure he'll have to stop his other timeline self

so there will be two adam's now? and what about magnus's duaghter do you think she'll come back? and it was great to see watson as well.

Ah, I just checked for Sancturay threads over on Syfy's board, and yea, January 18, it was announced as a 13 episode season, I'm guessing that's 13 straight through.

No, this show is not popular on this board. Superficially, that would seem to be odd, because Sanctuary is glorious at the totally demented, completely shameless, go-for-baroque determination to entertain, replete with insanely tortuous serialized story lines and astonishing character evolutions. In that brand of television, Sanctuary is like Farscape, a proven performer. And I find it more rewatchable than Farscape, which did suffer a from grit in the emotions. Sanctuary is self-aware without camping it up, but unashamed to wallow. Best show on Syfy, not to damn with faint praise.

No, there's only one Adam now. It would be nice if Ashley somehow made an appearance. Since Helen has to sit by and watch history unfold again, perhaps she'll have the time to figure out a way to save her...

I find it interesting that they've gone out of their way to make John an Anti-Hero Good Guy now, so much so that they turned and retconed away (in this episode) that he was Jack The Ripper.

Again, they didn't retcon him away as Jack the Ripper.

Jack The Ripper committed his murders in 1888.

The Story of "Tempus" takes place in 1898 (10 Years later)

The idea is that 'James Watson' assumes that 'John Druitt' has started up with killing again but in fact he's wrong and it's the work of an abnormal. AKA SPRING-HEELED JACK (another notable figure from Victorian myth/fiction)

John is still unbalanced and very much the one who killed those girls.

btw that fight between Druitt and Magnus in the street was awesome
excellent choreo- and photo- graphy :D

Oh, I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out.

^Plus, at some point, Druitt comes in contact with some sort of symbiote, that may be, in part, responsible for some of his dark impulses...a story I hated because it seemed (to me) to be a way of deflecting responsibility for his many actions off on the creature.
