Same Actor/Character in Different Continuities

I had an offshoot idea that may be worthy of its own thread. But there may not be nearly enough cases of this. Same actor, Different character only in name. Where an actor is basically playing a very similar role to one they have played in another film.

Funny, I had that idea myself. But I think you should post it, as I'm too lazy. I have a couple of suggestions for the thread if you do, though.

I can think of plenty of examples, too.

One which might fall into both categories is Colm Meaney and his role(s) in the so-called 'Barrytown Trilogy' of The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van. The three were based on books by Roddy Doyle, but the latter two were filmed by a different company. Colm played Da Rabbite, the father of Jimmy, founder of The Commitments. However, because of copyright issues, when the second and third books in the series were filmed, the family name was changed to Curley.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't believe I forgot (though perhaps someone else has already mentioned) Peter Capaldi's brilliant and foul-mouthed spin doctor Malcolm Tucker. He appears in the tv show The Thick of It and then in the movie In the Loop, which is set in a different continuity - most of the other regular actors from TTOI appear as entirely different characters and Malcolm is working in a different govt department.
