Sam Rami to direct Dr Strange 2

Wow; Feige really must hate 'Agents Of Shield' if he's not willing to acknowledge a show that ran for seven seasons but will acknowledge their biggest ever flop.
Black Bolt is part of the comic book Illuminati and Anson's pretty popular right now. Something to do with a show called (checks notes) "Star Trek".

Fun as usual, although one benefit of watching it after the fact is being able to skip all of the bits I didn't care about. Although the video didn't show him, a friend of mine is at the premiere (I'm stupid jealous of him) and he took a photo of Patrick Stewart arriving.

Also, Feige connected a few dots with all of these multiverse properties. We pretty much assumed this already but it hasn't been explicitly stated until now: What Loki and Sylvie did (or rather just what Sylvie did) allowed Strange's spell to falter in No Way Home which has lead to this film. Even though Feige didn't say it, this also confirms my notion that the end of Loki directly caused What If...? to happen.

My brother's 9 years older than me and had comics from the 70s that I read in the 80s and Doctor Strange always just seemed really really weird. I never quite got into it and was surprised it managed to be something Marvel adopted for the masses.

Some of those 70s plotlines and art though. There was some kind of evil sorcerer group who at least one of the guys looked like a cartoony version of Merlin with like a wizard hat and little stars on it and stuff. I vaguely remember a plotline where they were turning stars into humanoid form and our sun turned into a woman.

My theory has always been that there were a lot of drugs around in the 60s and 70s that Marvel Comics owe its success to.

I am seeing some mixed reviews. A lot of the early reviews basically say that the movie is half MCU, half Raimi horror, that Olson and Cumberbatch are great but that the movie kind of falls apart in the 3rd act. They describe the movie as entertaining and fun but a bit "messy". I also saw a review that feels that this movie ignores Wanda Vision because the Wanda we get in this movie appears to be a different Wanda than we saw in Wanda Vision. One review I watched feels that the Illuminati are underwhelming.

So far it's critic reviews are averaging 79 percent on rottentomatoes.

Roeper gives it 3/4 stars.

‘‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ takes Marvel to a macabre place
As Benedict Cumberbatch’s deadpan sorcerer ventures to creepy alternate worlds, the more compelling story belongs to Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, ruthlessly searching for her place in the multiverse.

There’s a clip on ign called “Look out” which has a very obvious editing mistake in it with a guy with a briefcase and papers run past Strange 3 times in a matter of seconds. It’s very distracting

Alright, seeing this on sunday, but I'm going to say this now:

I don't think it's Tom Cruise as Superior Iron Man, but a version of Captain Marvel.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Aghhh! Just accidentally saw what the mid-credits scene is. On the upside, it looks like we won't be waiting another six years for the next movie

If you're looking for something to tide you over until this comes out the original Doctor Strange movie is coming out on blu-ray at the end of April. No not that one; this one from 1978.

And if that's not enough for you, you could always watch the second Doctor Strange movie from 1992 staring Jeffrey Combs.

Well it was supposed to be Dr Strange but they lost the rights so they changed the character's name and nothing else and made it anyway.
Gah, I remember a little from the first one! At least it had Jessica Walters.

The 2nd looks like even Jeff and Brian couldn't make it watchable.

You should try Darkman, it's a great comic-book movie...that isn't based on a comic.
I saw that on a whim in the theater when it came out and greatly enjoyed it. At the time, I hadn't heard of Neeson, Raimi, or Bruce.

David Hasselhoff's Nick Fury.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Marvel.com has posted an exclusive interview with Xochitl Gomez and Victoria Alonso about America Chavez. It goes into a surprising amount of details we haven't heard yet about America and her role in the story.
Cool. All I know about her is from the Marvel Rising animated movies. She seems groovy.

I saw the leak, its a bit of footage from somewhere that is pretty definitely real, so just in case people want to know
SQUEEEEE!

saw it, found it very disappointing villain and main story
  • the multiverse part was fine and I would have loved to see more details, for example the cartoony bit.
  • the whole WandaVision part was quite frankly not good enough/of enough substance to carry the movie. Wanda continued mommy issues Part 2 basically
  • America Chavez star portal girl could be a fun character
  • was also nice to see Strange amend some wrongs with Christine and seeing Wong again
  • loved the cameo's, especially Captain Carter!

According to boxofficemojo the film so far has a worldwide gross of $479,099,558 after a $187,420,998 domestic opening. And according to rottentomatoes it's critic score is 75 percent and audience score is 87 percent.

Looking forward to catching it this weekend. Hopefully the crowds will have died down by then.

If you could see it in IMAX /3D please do, what Raimi done with it was scary and fun at the same time.
