Saldana confirmed as Uhura

Good casting so far -- I enjoyed the trek stuff in "The Terminal" (of course, trek geek that I am). Who will be revealed next?

I think I finally figured out why she got the part:

I knew there had to be more to this otherwise random casting decision.

Damn. I was hoping Garrett Morris would get the role.

This movie is not turning out the way I had envisioned it.


Edit: And apparently Satuday Night Live is not turning out the way I'd envisioned it either. I thought Garrett Morris played Uhura in that old SNL skit where Belushi was Kirk. My memory was faulty. Dumb joke anyhow.

Poor us, and poor guy who played Lt. Alden! If only Roddenberry hadn't met Nichelle, then we could be talking about recasting Lt. Alden. Just imagine a recasting with Samuel Jackson on the bridge of the Enterprise:

"I have had it with these motherfucking hailing frequencies on this motherfucking ship!"

Seriously, she looks the part in some shots ive seen, but thats just 1/3 of the problem.
Heres the two factors i can come up with the moment.
*Can she act for the grace of god as good as Nichelle?
*does she have the grace and screen presence to carry it off?
