I said this before but it bears repeating: These look like screen captures from an episode of Star Trek in some alternate universe where Trek is still on the air--the quality of the texturing and imagery is that good.

Nope, it's still ongoing. It's being held up by design issues, though, not modeling issues. If there's any one piece of advice I would ever give to an aspiring designer/modeller, it would be to never try to do both at once. Put together a design first on paper or digital canvas or whatever. Maybe throw together a basic study model or two to fine tune proportions or certain things that can only be properly viewed in perspective. Then and only then, start the detailed modeling process. Trying to do it the other way around will only bog you down and result in a lot of wasted time and effort.
