I love this analyzation. It fits so many Moffat era stories.

. On a more serious note, why did the President just kill himself? Why not launch a (simulated) nuclear strike and end the whole simulation?
Ooh, a little late to the party I see, but I voted excellent, in that every minute of the episode I was really, really waiting to see what would happen next. The Missy scenes were absolutely heart-breaking; every line. I am definitely going to miss her and Capaldi as a pair. It was also super fun to see someone from Humans on Doctor Who. The A-story mystery was also very engaging and I was still duped into wondering, "omg, has Doctor Who always been a simulation?? How is that possible???" because I am was not clever or observant enough to realize, "Oh wait, he's a simulation of the actual Doctor." Perhaps I was too involved in the story and was just enjoying the ride. After all, I was still surprised that Missy survived. It was so touching when he calls her his friend. I loved it. I loved every bit of it.
And also, the scene with her date (which was so sweet) became so hilarious with the Pope. I want to believe that this episode was written just so they could add in that joke.
But a quick question, the scene at the execution is the first time Nardole and the Doctor meet post-Husbands of River Song, correct? My take-away was that River sent Nardole to remind the Doctor that he should do the right thing (and also be his like, new conscience). Do you think this would be right after the special and before she runs off to the Library? Also, does this mean the Doctor was not, in fact, the one that 'rebuilt' him or whatever the reasoning is that he's alive?

She would outright kill the John simm master if she knew that was precisely how she came into being in that incarnation. And I have mentally bet myself that's what will happen, based on the rememergence of certain ideas from the old novels, and because it lets missy keep her word and remain the master and essentially cheat the doctor. It's also something of a reversal of the elevenths phone call to Clara way back when.

It actually is stated in dialogue in Doctor Mysterio that the Doctor did rebuild Nardole. Of course, it's also stated there that Nardole was rebuilt specifically to keep the Doctor company, which this episode now contradicts.
I suppose that makes what he said previously his cover story. He could have rebuilt Nardole on Darillium before leaving and then River sent him later on.
It was established in a private conversation between the Doctor and Nardole within the TARDIS, where they shouldn't need cover stories.
Absolutely no reason both versions couldn't be true. The Doctor could have rebuilt Nardole for exactly the reasons he said, then grown tired of him and moved on. And then Nardole could catch up to him at the executioners' planet with the diary.
In fact, I don't see any reason no to assume that "Mysterio" happened prior to the events we see depicted in flashback here. It could have taken place after, certainly, but it doesn't have to.
Truth be told I only watched Mysterio once. Once was enough. Once may actually have been too much for me.
This makes the most sense since the Doctor probably wasn't traveling after the execution anyway. The flashback just kinda made it seem like this was the first time he had seen Nardole but with that reasoning it could just be the first time in a while.
What makes you think that? Maybe the Doctor always planned for Nardole to "interupt" the execution and they were working together. The Doctor lies and so can his "companions".

You really do take this all super seriously, I'm not sure if it's funny or not though.
They whole thing is meaningless anyways because it's unscientific on all levels and we're such a small sample size in the first place. Even the larger ratings (already covered in the ratings thread) is mostly meaningless, too.
I wonder how many Simulant Doctors sent e-mails to the real Doctor. The real Doctor's inbox must be filled with recordings from Simulant Doctors.
Either that or the Simulant Doctors are really ineffective to only have one of them think to send such an e-mail. Though, I suppose the monks could have created counter-measures for other simulations.
