S.C.E./Mirror Universe discontinuity?

I'm guessing this would be more of a question for Dayton & Kevin since they wrote all the novels/novellas in question but is there a discontinuity somewhere between the old S.C.E. Interphase novels and the Mirror Universe anthologies?

Let me say right up front that, even though I have them all, the only S.C.E. stories I've read are the Lovell stories, and those just recently as a prelude to Vanguard.

That being said, I've heard that the two Interphase books center on the Defiant, lost in the interphase rift between universes. From what I've heard, the S.C.E. successfully recovers the Defiant from this rift. However, it (the Defiant) plays heavily in the Mirror Universe/Terran Empire arc. I'm confused.

I guess that maybe they were able to recover "a" Defiant from the rift but it could've been one that was stranded in yet another alternate universe but not what we think of as the Mirror Universe. I guess all bets are off when you're talking about infinite alternate universes. Or maybe all will be made clear when I finally get around to reading the S.C.E. series. Either way, I'm not really looking for spoilers. I'm just curious if anyone else had thought of it; if there is a discontinuity here or if all works out right.

The presence of the Defiant in the Mirror Universe was canonically established in Enterprise: "In a Mirror, Darkly," which came out after Interphase was published. The prose is required to stay consistent with screen canon, even if it means contradicting earlier prose works.

But we are talking about an interdimensional spacetime rift here, so it's quite easy to assume that the Defiant was split into alternate versions by the phenomenon.

To be honest, I never assumed the Defiant made it through WITHOUT being split into various quantum duplicates.

That particular rift was a right tricky bastard.

Kind've like what happened with Will Riker in the Transporter incident which created Thomas Riker.

Figured that tech ended up all over the known multiverse.;)

i assume as my personal continuity, that the Defiant that arrived in the MU was one from the universe next door to ours and the one in Interphase was the original.

You know, I vaguely remember reading a story solicit that a future COE release would be something of a sequel to Interphase in order to explain in-setting what happened, not long before the line ended. Does anyone else remember hearing that? It might be my memory playing tricks on me.

Maybe the interphase links to lots of realities, and more and more Defiants will come drifting through into ours. Kinda like a cross between "Parallels" and that episode of Stargate where a dozen versions of SG-1 came through the same gate.

And with the freaky way the multiverse supposedly works, the SCE Defiant could be the exact ship from "The Tholian Web", it's history only diverging after it vanished into the interphase.

Btw, the "Interphase" Defiant is the second one the Federation's rescued. There was the comic book "Raise the Defiant!" set during the TOS movie era.

They're coming! The infinite Defiants are coming!!

now i want to see a story called "Crisis on Infinite Defiants"... possibly with a cover showing Worf holding a dead Ezri in his arms and screaming...

^ Anyone here see the recent Futurama episode about the infinitely duplicating Benders? You could have the same thing with Defiants threatening to fill the <whatever techno-babble measurement that fits the plot>.
