I agree with a number of the previous posters here; I love the first movie, but I can see LOTS of things that could be improved about it. That doesn't guarantee that the new version will be better, but in the right hands it sure could be.

Yeah, someone like Christopher Nolan. Pleeaaaase? He's a great director with a great sense of artistic vision.

Very cool news about Gosling. Fan of his since his "Young Hercules" days and before that "Breaker High". He's come along way since those days. Still remember when Bryan Singer was attached to direct this. Had a chance to read the Chris McQuarie draft of the script and was pretty good.
