I'm sorry if this is rude, it's pretty sad if Ncuti Gatwa is already "too old" and in too bad of shape to keep doing Doctor Who at only 32, especially when you consider that there are people a lot older than him doing just as intense or even more intense roles on regular basis. One of my favorite shows is The Rookie, which has tons of running, and fighting all of that kind of stuff, and the youngest actor in the regular cast, Tru Valentino, is 35.

Okay, but, on the other hand, he HAS to say something, and that's the one thing all Doctor Who actors have said about the role after leaving. Its not hard science that there's clearly something in there, on the essence of it, but lets not stick on this, shall we?

Well. there is an awful lot more leaping about and short sharp dashes in nuWho compared to Classic. Far more physicality and last-minute technobabble to pretend to resolve the stories. Plus all the traditional hanging about between shots... not good for the joints to keep seizing up while waiting then having to burst into action like that.
Plus I wouldn't be surprised if those in charge just assumed that younger actors would be able to cope with all that. They certainly wouldn't have expected Capaldi (nu-Hartnell) to go along with such stuff automatically. I hope.

Capaldi did indeed get Doctors Knee. He probably ran more than Ncuti did tbh. And the old run and turn.
