For all you Rush fans out there, be sure to tune into the Colbert Report Wednesday evening. For the first time on television in more than 30 years, Rush will be performing live. Tune into Comedy Central at 11:30 EDT!

Yep, I just saw that. I'm there! :techman:

"You hosers need to watch the Colbert Report tonight, eh?!"

:techman:

What will they play? Probably Workin' Them Angels?

All 5the news sources say it will be "Tom Sawyer"
That's to date their best known song, as far as the general public is concerned, so it makes sense. Maybe Colbert should book Lil' Rush, too.

BTW they actually have an article in Rolling Stone this month
Really? That's a bit of a surprise. What's the gist of the article?

I mentioned it in my unread "hell has frozen over" thread. It established some of the contentions between RS and Rush fan, citing aspects of the bands music that RS hasn't thought so highly of. There is also a retrospective of all of Rush's albums as reviewed by RS. In addition, the main article talks about how Rush have been true to themselves all this time and that they are perhaps jst as viable now as they ever have been, with a loyal fanbase.

Rush would be an amazing band if Geddy Lee would just stick to playing bass :p
You shut the hell up.

Amen, brother!

:techman:

So they're playing Tom Sawyer, eh? They've only had, what, ten albums after that?

Well, I suppose a whole generation of young Futurama fans will now know what the hell Fry was listening to in the Video Game (Anthology of Interest) episode...

Okay, the last part of that does give me some encouragement.

"Looks like a drum factory exploded in my studio". (sic)

This is pretty good. The bits involving the one camera guy (I'm guessing that's his job there) and how he slips in all the Rush references, etc is pretty good.

Trust me... you will flip over it. Vintage Colbert! And The Boys come off very well. Neil gets in a couple of good jokes... but Iwon't spoil it for you. ;)

They were interviewed. The answer to the song question is a bit complicated, but they didn't play more than one song.

"You're known for some sort of long songs.. have you ever written a song so epic, that by the end of the song, you were actually being influenced by yourself at the beginning of the song?"
:guffaw:

Oh man that was awesome!

Oh yeah, that was great! Another we enjoyed (I watched it with my 3 kids) was when Colbert asked: "What are your fans called, Rushians?" to which Neil replied "No, they have their own names".

Honestly... it was almost odd seeing Neil smile and laugh like that. :)
