Rush (the Holy Trinty) dissed again!

^ There's still only one :guffaw:

But seriously folks, not as famous, but Triumph & BTO were pretty great too.

BTO's great, but I don't know that they really had enough of an impact to be considered.

The Guess Who, on the other hand, really should be in there. They were the first Canadian group to hit number 1 on Billboard, after all.

RUSH rules the only good thing to come out of canada.

I'd have to go with (in order):

1.) William "The Man" Shatner

2.) Rush

3.) Lorne Greene

I'd add:

4. Mary Pickford, the first actress to develop an acting style specifically suited for cinema, as opposed to the stage. Who, along with Charlie Chaplin among others, formed United Artists. And the actress for whom the term "America's Sweetheart" was first used.

5. Triumph. Rik Emmett is one of the best, and most versatile guitarists on the planet. I'd rank him higher than Lifeson.

6. Michael J. Fox

7. Nathan Fillion

8. John Candy

9. Phil Hartman

10. Tricia Helfer

11. James Doohan

I mean, seriously, the list of awesome is just too long.

And Rush not getting into the Rock Hall of Fame is probably one of the few things that keep people talking about the Rock Hall of Fame.

Rats, I forgot the Guess Who. Randy Bachmann is a musical genius.

Imagine that Canadian supergroup: Bachmann, Rik Emmett & Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart & the immortal William Shatner on vocals .

Really, you should do some better research.
In no particular order.
1) Todd McFarlane (1961-) - creator of Spawn
2) Joe Shuster (1914-1992) - co-creator of Superman
3) Rick Hansen, (1957-) - paraplegic athlete who completed an around the world marathon for spinal cord injury research.
4) Bell, Alexander Graham (1847-1922) - born in Scotland, invented the telephone in Canada and developed it in the United States.
5) Jennings, Peter CM (1938–2005) - ABC news anchor.
6) Puck, Peter - Hockey Night in Canada symbol from the 1970s
7) Morley Safer, (1931-) - investigative journalist for CBS News and 60 Minutes ( this one I did not know)
8) Franks, Wilbur R. (1901-1986) - invented the anti-black-out-suit (the G-suit)
9) Linda Evangelista, (1965-) - model
10) Jack Warner, (1892-1978) - founder of Warner Bros.
Studios
11) and a list of Canadian Actors , (some of the names you'll recognise)
But yeah Rush Should be in.

No Warren Zevon, no Tom Waits, no Stevie Ray Vaughn, no Rush. This HoF is a joke.

MoJo Nixon would agree with you that the R'n'R HOF is a Joke

It'd need a bassist, though...

^ The way Shatner "sings", the bass player wouldn't be able to play slow enough to keep tempo.

Course, even Peart would be lost trying to keep rhythm too.

I'm not a Rush fan, but there is no denying they are an talented, influential and well respected group of musicians. They should be in the HOF.

As for what type of music/musicians/performers should be in the Hall. While there are limitations, "Rock and Roll" is a pretty loose term ( which began fracturing upon arrival) that pretty much came to mean anything kids were listening to. If it was limited to the stuff Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Elvis made at the start of ther careers, Rush and most the performers the HOF wouldn't make the cut. Though a Chuck Berry/Rush mashup might be fun. Where's Big Daddy when you need them?

Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey the parents
They just want to fart and curse!

Should we blame the government?
Or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?

No, blame Canada!
Blame Canada!

With all their beady little eyes
And flapping heads so full of lies

Blame Canada! Blame Canada!
We need to form a full assault
It's Canada's fault!

Don't blame me for my son Stan
He saw the darn cartoon and now he's off to join the Klan!

And my boy Eric, once, had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fuck myself

Well, blame Canada!
Blame Canada!

It seems that everything's gone wrong
Since Canada came along

Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
They're not even a real country anyway

My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer rich and true
Instead he burned up like a piggy on a barbecue

Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?

Heck, no!
Blame Canada! Blame Canada!

With all their hockey hullabaloo
And that bitch Anne Murray, too

Blame Canada! Shame on Canada for...
The smut we must cut
The trash we must bash
The laughter and fun must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us!

I don't like Rush much either, but of course they should be in the Hall of Fame. The more successful acts they leave out of the Hall, the less relevant it will be, and it could end up being cooler to be left out as voted in.

As for what type of music/musicians/performers should be in the Hall. While there are limitations, "Rock and Roll" is a pretty loose term ( which began fracturing upon arrival) that pretty much came to mean anything kids were listening to.

Quite agreed. How do you come up with a definition for rock and roll?

Though a Chuck Berry/Rush mashup might be fun. Where's Big Daddy when you need them?

Ha, almost forgot about them. "Welcome to the Jungle/The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was inspired.

And speaking of Canadians and music, I can't believe no one has mentioned Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and the Band. Also Paul Shaffer.
