Finally, Rush is releasing a re-mixed version of 2002's Vapor Trails.

"Vapor Trails was an album made under difficult and emotional circumstances — sort of like Rush learning how to be Rush again,” Geddy Lee said. “As a result, mistakes were made that we have longed to correct."
This is one of my favorite Rush albums just as it is, but there's no debating the mix came out "too hot" as Alex Lifeson once commented. The lower tones are thick and muddled at points.
Of course the difficult and emotional circumstances Lee refers to is that Vapor Trails was the first album Rush recorded after drummer Neil Peart lost his wife to cancer, and his daughter to a car accident, in a ten month period in 1997.
I think songs like Earthshine, Peaceable Kingdom, and Ceiling Unlimited are some of Rush's finest, and I'm looking forward to hearing what the band does with the opportunity to remix the entire thing.
