The Angry Video Game Nerd's review of the two Gremlin movies says it all. Part of the charm of the first one is the fact that it came across as a total surprise. People expected E.T. and got a pseudo-horror movie instead!

Going into the re-boot/remake knowing what to expect would ruin the whole thing! And what tone, exactly would they take for the movie?

You may as well remake The Ghoulies while you're at it.

I agree that if they do remake Gremlins they MUST use puppets and animatronics....
