Rumor about the Doctor's Regenerations (spoilers)

If this is true, it shows that Moffat doesn't pay enough attention to his own show. In The Angels Take Manhattan Eleven donates some regenerative energy to River. And in Nightmare in Silver, he threatens to regenerate in order to thwart the Cyber-Planner. How can either of these be if he's on his last freaking life???!!! Ridiculous, just ridiculous.

Not to mention he seemed to think he could regenerate again in Let's Kill Hitler, and I doubt he would bluff when talking to his own Tardis.

And yet he couldn't regenerate there to save his life. ;)

^ I think the TARDIS interface in the form of young Amy told him that regeneration was off; apparently the Silents via Mels/River had shot him with something that neutralised his ability to regenerate.

Maybe he was taking really exceptional pains to make everyone think he had regenerations left. For all he knew, there might have been a Silent right behind him.

Also, it's not hard at all to type with a cock in your mouth. I mean, it's not like it gets in the way from your keyboard. Maybe it can make it a little difficult to see the screen, but I am pretty sure most of us use touch typing at this point.
Now that's a post that could launch 1000 dates

I had read that the crack we've seen is somehow connected but that's likely more speculation and rumor than any inside information.

I'm pretty sure the poison is what disabled his regeneration. After all, it doesn't do them any good to assassinate him if he can just bring himself back to life.

Action has been taken folks, a while ago. Time to move on.

A while ago? To me it appears the offending comment was made just over 10 hours prior to my posting this.

Ah, but this is a Dr. Who subforum. Timey Wimey moderation. The action was probably administered before the transgression was made.

For a show based on time around time travel, I wouldn't expect a huge amount of coninutity after all as it has been stated in the show time can be re-written (well at least certain points)

You're thinking of that awful Tom Cruise movie...

... 'Cocktail'.
Wasn't that the name of the Military Investigation into inappropriate relationships and suggestions?... Oh Wait...No that was the other way around

If your name stands for what I think it does, then I think you'll realize that Doctor Who not only has a pretty good continuity, especially for a 50 year old show, but a great continuity in comparison to you-should-know-what.

Hmm, actually much as I was defending Moffat re Matt regenerating, something did strike me last night. At the start of the Impossible Astronaut when River guns him down he immediately starts to regenerate until she shoots him again…

Of course you could fudge your way round this by saying that it’s only his body trying to regenerate, and that even if River hadn’t shot him again the regenerative energy would have faded to leave a corpse there anyway…maybe!

That was the Tessalecta simulating a regeneration.

so if the doctor knows he isn't going to regenerate, why does he set up the tessalecta to simulate one?

Moreover, how could the Tessalecta simulate one in the first place? I've always found that rather weak.

Actually, I had no problem with that. The Tessalecta can literally grow a motorcycle out of its ass, making its skin glow and then causing the regeneration light show shouldn't be much more difficult. Plus, with its shapeshifting ability it could even complete the regeneration imitation, if necessary.

Of course, the real mystery is why the Tesselecta had to grab the glasses worn by that Nazi officer it was impersonating. After growing a motorcycle out of its ass, growing a pair of glasses on its face can't be that difficult.
