My first thought upon seeing this threads title was Peter David's TNG novel Before Dishonor. In BD, when the Borg super-cube was infected by the techno-virus originally developed in I, Borg, PAD describes the effect on the Borg cube as being similar to the old Earth toy known as a Rubik's Cube.
