Romances guys like?

YOu are joking aren't you? - "anything but a romance" ? "Rocky" definitely has a significant romance component, but it is not so overwhelmingly a romance as that. The film is about this once-in-a-lifetime shot, as it was originally portrayed "his life a one in a million chance". That is comprised of several things -the title shot, the romance, the fight to lift himself up out of the life he knew

Love Actually
Return to Me
Grosse Point Blank
You've Got Mail
Sleepless in Seattle
Say Anything
A Walk in the Clouds
Notting Hill
The American President
Two Weeks Notice
She's All That
Fools Rush In
As Good as it Gets
Casablanca
The Illusionist
Bridget Jones Diary
Romancing the Stone
The Parent Trap
Ghost
Forrest Gump
City of Angels
Legends of the Fall

Rocky is a good example of the type of romance I like - where it's part of the story, not the whole story. The Empire Strikes Back is another.

Yes, it's true that Rocky had a lot more going on for it than a romance, but you can't deny that the romance between Rocky and Adrian dominated the film. Hell, even the big fight scene is broken up with scenes of Adrian and ends with Rocky desperately wanting to be close to her. If Rocky doesn't qualify as a romance film than I don't know what does.

Garden State. So much Garden State.

Also Love, Actually.

And despite the dark, tragic, twisted nature of the film, I think Donnie Darko's love story is the central element and key to the whole thing.

I'm going to have to say that True Romance is strictly what a young Quentin Tarantino thought cool romance would be like.

Guy likes his dead end job because it's a comic book store where he gets to read every comic, meets hot chick at a kung fu triple feature, they have sex that night, finds out she's a hooker but he changed her so they get married, then he kills her pimp and takes his drugs, then tries to sell the drugs to a big time movie producer by brokering a deal on a roller coaster. Ends with Mexican standoff fight between the cops, the mob and the producer's thugs.

Unless of course, everyone else experienced a girlfriend like this too.
