Roman Reviews "Star Trek: William Shatner" [Spoilers]

Re: Roman Reviews "Star Trek: William Shatner" [Spoilers]

Because it's hard not to make jokes when talking about The Shat.

Yeah, sure, that means "screw the readers who liked the said novel", right?

I mean, I try to honestly say how much I liked this book's finale, for instance, and there's no change. I mean, whats the point?

Re: Roman Reviews "Star Trek: William Shatner" [Spoilers]

I've only got the first two books from the "Mirror Universe" saga and the first two from the "Totality" saga so cannot comment on the ending. One thing I like in Shatner books as they do introduce some interesting concepts as well as nice insights into the various cultures like Romulans, Bajorans or Vulcans. Another thing I do like is the continuity with the mention of various things throughout other books.

One of the downsides of course is the near deification of Kirk and the bad habit of using TOS chars simply because it would feel like the old TOS crew. Also how Kirk constantly seems to almost hate Starfleet for bringing him back or how there is some aspect of the Federation he doesnt like as well as the whole "I don't want to do this but I have to cause someone I love is in danger and they sort of seem to be involved in the fate of all of creation".

So plus and negatives both ways. Can't comment on the final novel for either saga since I never got them.

Come on, it's not just threads about the Shatner novels that get taken off track by the jokes. No-one's attacking you for liking the novel.

Well, I liked all the ShatnerVerse novels. They are fun, quick reads.

Frankly, I never got to the end as I lost interest about halfway through.
