Thoughts on the application of the CG/voice impersonator techniques from Rogue One to resurrect beloved actors from TOS for new live action scenes in future projects?

Making a CGI Enterprise for TOS-R nearly split the fandom, imagine what a CGI Nimoy-Spock would do to us?
You can't computer-generate a deceased actor's acting.
If you can take most of it from old footage and achieve results like the DS9 tribble episode, yeah, great.
If you have to create it from scratch like Tarkin in Rogue One with the current technology, it should be done sparingly if at all...
Or in this case, Sweet Zombie Nimoy, Kelley, and Doohan.
In fairness, as the technology isn't quite there at the moment, it could always be redone when the tech improves.
Personally, I don't care how good the technology gets. People should get to rest in peace, and new actors should have a shot to play iconic characters.

When Oliver Reed died during the filming of Gladiator, the producers were forced to use a body double with Reed's face superimposed on the person in order to complete his scenes. It worked, but it was kind of bizarre. I say let the TOS actors who have passed away rest in peace and forget about using CGI to recreate their images.
Rouge One's use of CG ANH characters was crude, if not tasteless. I'm no supporter of the J.J./NuTrek films, but the use of old characters is better off as recasts in unrelated/alternate universe productions instead of recreating the image of original performers (particularly those who have passed on) to prop up a new film or TV series.
You might do it for an animated project. But not live-action.
They do say that in years to come this will be the way our films will be made and look at all the money and fuss the studios will be saving! I say it's okay if it's just one scene or whatever but a full movie like it would be a bit weird...

But then again wouldn't it be great to see the entire Doctors Who together in a show where they all looked like they were supposed to back in the day and interacting with each other rather than how they were shown in the eighties as old men trying to look as they used to...
