I am a little confused. The ship, Darth Vader boarded at the end, was that the ship the Mon Calamari Admiral was on ?

Yes it was the Rebel cruiser the Admiral was on. He probably died. Unless someone else beside the Tantive IV helped evacuate the ship, cause if he was on that ship...he died. Though I could half see the Ghost swooping in to pick up the Admiral then taking off while knowing Princess Leia was taking care of the plans to the Death Star (and hopefully Vader). Or The Ghost attempted to distact Vader, but Vader being who he is didn't fall for it and went after Leia.

We don't know what happened to the Ghost. The last time I saw it was just as the Death Star was being reported coming out of hyperspace. So it could have made it out with a lot of the fleet, or Vader could have destroyed it. We likely won't know for a few years.

The second time I went to see Rogue One, I made a point to pay close attention to where the Ghost was during the battle. To my surprise it was in almost every shot of the space battle, usually sticking close to the flagship, screening incoming fighters rather than engaging offensively in the battle.

I however could not spot it in the scene where the Devastator jumps in, either making it out, swerving to avoid or being destroyed.

If I had to guess I'd say Edwards gave Filloni some leeway if he ever gets around to showing the battle from the Ghost's perspective, by specifically leaving where they were and what they were doing towards the end somewhat up in the air.

A tale that covers "dark" events and a film that actually lands something close to the full emotional content of such events are very different things. The original Battlestar Galactica "told a very dark tale," but seeing someone tackle the full psychological freight of those kinds of events had to wait for Ronald Moore's reimagining. I'd say the difference between Rogue One and prior Star Wars stories (yes, even Empire) is similar.

I still believe that "Rogue One" is not the first truly "dark" movie within the Star Wars movie franchise. Perhaps the third one, but certainly not the first.

Thanks for sharing that. I figured it was probably the case, I couldn't really see them building a whole new one just a blink and you miss it (which I apparently did) cameo when they already have a perfectly good one rolling around.
Next time you see the movie, if you listen carefully right at that moment, you can also hear Chopper's distinctive warble. He had a speaking part!

A+. I watched all the Star Wars films over the past 3 days leading up to finally go see this. Right now, I'd have to say it's one of the best SW films and the best 2016 movie I've seen so far. I think it's quite a bit better than The Force Awakens.

I've been a fan of Felicity Jones for a while and she certainly didn't disappoint. Her and Diego Luna had some great chemistry without a forced romance plot. K-S20 stole the show. I think I laughed at every line he said.

I really enjoyed the movie, too. Though I have to say that Diego Luna was, without question, the worst part of the movie. Everything about his character, including his accent, was off-putting, unlikable, and downright unnecessary. You could completely remove his character from the show and it would still go down almost exactly the same, save for the plot-driving stuff (which were not character-specific by any stretch), all of which could easily have been handled by nearly anyone else in the cast at various points.

I wasn't a big fan of Jyn, either, but I think something was just lost about her in the reshoots or something. I feel like she, unlike Cassian, could have been great if the story were told slightly different or her character had a few more interesting personality traits other than brooding daddy's girl.

Lastly, I really could have lived without the blatant -- and I do mean blatant, right down to his name -- Che Guevara that poor Whitaker was forced to play. Such a waste, both in screen time and of Whitaker's talents. Doubly so since he was a crappy rehash (conceptually) of the already spectacularly crappy General Grievous just made matters worse.

That said, I found K2, Chirrut, and Baze to be the real winners in the cast. I also really liked Mon Mothra; while she had very little to do other than to be there because the story all but demanded it, that little smile she gave when she heard that Rogue One had engaged the Empire -- suggesting that she was glad they did it, as she really wanted that to happen but couldn't force matters directly -- really made me happy she was there.

Wasn't that just Luna's real accent? For your sake I hope it wasn't because otherwards that could almost come across as kind of racist.

I'm not saying you are racist, I'm just saying a comment like that could be interpreted that way. I was trying to tell you to be careful when you talk like that.

Well, I know Luna played Harvey Milk's lover in "Milk" and had a pronounced accent there, but I don't know what his natural accent is.

Mmm, I think I can handle living with some oversensitive white knights thinking I'm racist over something like that. Won't lose a bit of sleep, really.
