Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

But... Luke's X-Wing was sitting unused in the snow during the battle ;-)
Well yeah, they would have had some on ready standby once the surviving speeder pilots fell back to either help protect that last transports out or to follow on when they can. They only have so many pilots after all and a dozen or so of them were out engaging the walkers.

I think Leia even mentions sending troops out to the south slopes to protect those fighters right before giving the evacuation order.

Also correct...

I never made that connection before. But "fighters" could have multiple connotations there as well.
Possibly, but since the term "fighters" is used in previous dialog to refer to starfighters (Hobbie, Leia, Imperial officers) it would make sense that in that context, the fighters still refer to "starfighters."

I have always assumed the reasons why the Rebels didn't use the X-wings on Hoth was because they hadn't adapted them for long flights in the cold conditions on the planet.

And I've just booked our tickets for Rogue One on the 16th at the local imax.

Better quality upload of that trailer from the last page

Such as what? Troops? She just ordered troops to go there to protect the...troops? That wouldn't make any sense.
Remember, they're evacuating from the south slope because the walkers were approaching from the north. Nobody back there was in combat, as we saw when Luke and Wedge got in their ships and took off. Almost literally last ones out and not a stormtrooper in sight.

I was re-watching the trailers for Rogue One today. I noticed in the teaser trailer Saw Gerrera has no hair, but in all the subsequent trailers he has hair. I imagine his scenes were part of the reshoots.

IIRC Pablo said on twitter you'll see both in the movie.

First image of Bail Organa in R1 (maybe, people think they spotted him in BTS footage)

He still looks classy. Glad to see him reprising his role. Oddly, seeing him feels more like a bridge between the PT and the OT than anything else ever did for me. That's weird.

@Tuskin38: The image didn't show up (at least on my browser) - all I got was a tag...

On a completely unrelated matter: IMDB has a very odd bit of trivia about this film. I strongly suspect that they're pulling this out of their ass (we all know how unreliable IMDB is) but I was just wondering if there is any reason at all to suspect this might be true:

Jyn Erso is the future mother of Rey

Again, this is probably nothing, since this will almost certainly not actually happen IN Rogue One (given its time frame), but I was just curious...

^It's a theory that's been kicked about. One of about seven billion since TFA came out and AKAIK there's no basis for it beyond "she's a woman in a Star Wars movie and-also-they-look-a-little-alike!?!"
I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out to be true, but at the same time I don't put much stock in it.

It's worth remembering that JJ Abrams loves his mystery boxes more than he loves the actual mystery inside. To the point where it seems most of the time that even he has no idea what the mystery could me, he just enjoys decorating the box with randomly cryptic clues with no coherent idea of what it all means or what it could lead too.
Personally I suspect that the LFSG intentionally made sure it was vague because they themselves hadn't decided how things should play out. Perhaps wisely waiting to see what audiences responded too before making up their minds which story threads to tug on.

The Radio drama has Luke and Wedge guard one more final transport, and take out a Star Destroyer, before Luke goes on his own thing.

As for Saw, I'm guessing that he's the Bryan Cranston of the film, the big name actor who gets killed fairly early on, as he doesn't seem to be present in what I assume are later scenes. However, at least they're not really advertising him as the main character, which is kind of where Godzilla's advertising went wrong.

IIRC, Felicity Jones has debunked that theory.

I agree Saw likely will be killed early on, his line in the trailer "save the Rebellion, save the dream" feels like it's from a death scene, I'm not sure this quite compares. I don't think they specifically sought a name actor to play Saw, the big deal with him is that he's someone from Clone Wars making an appearance in the movie. Securing a big name actor is just gravy.

It's not as though Godzilla was the only movie to do that sort of thing. What I like is what I call the "Liam Neeson Effect" in which movie trailers make it look like Liam Neeson has a much larger role in the movie than he really does. Battleship and A Million Ways to Die in the West are perfect examples of this. Hell, the trailers for Million Ways even edited him into scenes he's not even in in the actual movie.
