Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Sad there's no new trailer, but I loved the behind the scenes stuff. Hell, I could probably just watch Storm Troopers walking all day and get excited. This seems fun.

The 3-minute Trailer will be on TV tonight, at 8pm on ABC they are having The Making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the trailer will premiere during it.

I thought Jian had said something he shouldn't have based on the others' reaction, but his English was (understandably) so choppy I didn't catch what he said. Lucky for me since I don't want to know. ;)

The Striker seems unnecessary and looks a bit meh, kind of like something someone threw together for an early licensed game or something. With a little tweaking it could have been a nice "devolution" of the Interceptor, shame. I like the shuttle design, though I wonder why the Emperor would be cruising around in a standard Lambda-class shuttle if something so much more impressive looking is available. Perhaps that is intentional, to show this guy is too big for his britches and if that might come into play in the plot.

Damn. My mom and I usually take our dog to the dog park at 7:00, which is when it airs here, hopefully the trailer will be online by the time we get home. I hope they put the special up online tomorrow.

So did anybody see the new trailer? I was really hoping it would be online today, but I haven't seen any signs of it anywhere.

i read on Star Wars News Net that the trailer was Celebration exclusive and wouldn't be released. not sure if that is completely true or not.

You didn't miss anything last night. Disney said the new trailer would air during the TFA behind-the-scenes special (which was just the Blu-ray featurette) but the only thing they played was the same three-minute Rogue One behind-the-scenes video that was online all day yesterday, just with a couple more interview shots (like Mads Mikklesen).

If anything the TIE Striker looks more like a forerunner to the TIE Phantom.

The behind-the-scenes vid shows that the film-makers are continuing with their efforts to do as many practical effects creatures and sets as possible rather than greenscreen/CGI.

That would explain it. Thanks for the info.

The striker is primarily an atmospheric fighter, but can fight in space. Probably meant to explain why we don't see it in the other movies.

Also, random fun fact: Two of the Prequels were released in years where a Trek TV series ended. 1999 saw the release of Phantom Menace and the end of DS9 while 2005 saw the release of Revenge of the Sith and the end of Enterprise.

Also interesting, at the time, Enterprise's ending was the end of Trek's run of 18 consecutive years on TV, while ROTS was the last live action SW movie released while Lucas owned the franchise. Both franchises ended prominent chapters in their respective histories in the same month, 2005. By curious coincidence, Trek's revival and the relaunch of live action Star Wars movies would both be handled by JJ Abrams.
