Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

There are also rumors of Hayden Christiansen coming back to Star Wars. The last Vader suit was designed for him.

James Earl Jones confirmed he's doing work for the movie.
Supposedly for nothing more than a hologram cameo. Which is OK. I loved hearing him in Rebels (and can't wait to hear him again), but to be honest, he sounds like his age has caught up with him. Which is perfectly normal for a man of 84 years of age.
I think he sounds awesome in Rebels. They're filtering his voice to be more Ep4 style than the other films, which I love. (That and the red lenses.)

No question of Vader being in Rouge One... absolutely none. The only question is how much of him will appear on screen? There are dozens of articles on the subject, here's a bunch:

That makes sense as to why the Hayden rumors have been true. And guess what: he likely won't ever take off the mask.

I agree, I think he sounds great--and definitely more ANH than the later movies.

I think it's a brilliant idea. Especially if it's simply a matter of him donning the suit and the voice being done by Jones, why the heck not include him?

If the shoes fit, wear them. Might as well be him since David Prowse isn't going into that suit again. He'll be on lifts, but I image they can work it.

Plus, it suits the story reasonably well. Who better to be motivated to recover the stolen plans to a space station some 18 years (or considerably longer) in design and construction?

The stolen data tapes!

I dunno, I thought Hayden looked awkward as hell in the suit. Between the Frankenstein stomping, the "Nooo!" pose, and his inability to cross his arms convincingly (although that's the fault of the suit, no doubt) I'd rather they just get someone the right height (unlike Hayden) to play Vader.

Why would Hayden agree to play a part where his voice will be replaced? I get why he did in in ROTS, but it could be anyone in that suit.

Not that Hayden Christensen is an A-list star or anything, but it would probably also be cheaper for the production to just hire a stunt performer of the appropriate size to wear the suit. It'd be neat if they found some kind of cameo role for Christensen or something, but putting him in the suit would be kind of pointless.

IIRC, Lucas thought It would only be fair to let Hayden go all the way and wear the suit, despite the obvious impracticalities that came with putting a 6-feet tall guy in a 6'6'' body armor.

Plus, I read somewhere (Total Film, I think) that Hayden practically begged him.

Well if you are going to play Darth Vader, you'd want to get to be in the suit at the end to make it final.

If I watch ROTS these days, in the scene at the end with Vader and Palpatine looking at the DS, it almost looks like Hayden's slowly losing balance and teetering forward.

The "Frankenstein stomping" I'm actually fine with. In-universe, Anakin is only just starting to walk with new legs for the first time, not to mention most of his body has been completely re-done. Trouble walking isn't really all that shocking.

^^ Yes, I think I'm willing to overlook George's signature cheese just to get a glimpse at the first few real seconds of Vader. It's a fair trade.
