Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Yeah, I don't see that being very likely. Definitely sounds like fan dreaming to me.

I don't necessarily disagree...but theoretically I could see how it would fit. At least in terms of a cameo. I mean when you get right down to it, it's basically a heist movie, no?

The director described it as a war movie. Putting the "wars" back into Star Wars.

War movies can also be heist movies.

I'm just speculating of course, but going by what's in the ANH crawl (which is about all we have to go on) it looks like it was a two pronged operation, with the military assault essentially being a distraction so a small strike team can slip in the back door and ransack the vault...metaphorically speaking.

That means you're likely to essentially have two teams of cast members: one mostly military type pilots and one mixed bag of rogues and commandos. The latter is where I could see the above mentioned characters fitting in, crossing paths or at least having a cameo for the inevitable scene where they go to some seedy dive to recruit the roguish specialist mercenary type, and oh look who's he's playing cards with! ;)

A Han Solo origin film sounds pretty dull to me. You have this entire universe to play around with and we get to see more of a character we've already had in, at least, four movies? Yawn.

I absolutely agree - word for word - with your post.

It is a safe movie (though how safe can it be without Ford playing the role which made him an A list movie star and who defined the role?).

Disney has paid billions for the rights to the universe and they sure want their investment back. So it's understandable that they will make movies about already established and beloved characters figuring it would draw enough of an audience.

They are still working on expanding the universe with the new trilogy (even if we have the old guard present to hand over the reigns) and i fully expect some original movies with original characters a few years later once the movie franchise has picked up speed and is once again in the publics mind.

If Disney is considering Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford, I don't see any problem with another actor taking over as Han Solo.

Yeah well.. as many problems as the Abrams Trek movies have the casting was perfect, especially Pine as Kirk and Quinto as Spock (at least in my opinion).

It is doable but you'd have to find a young actor with similar charisma and currently none come to mind except Chris Pratt who's everybody's darling currently but in my opinion too old for the role (especially once they start shooting the movie by which point Pratt will be pushing 40).

However his Starlord already was a Han-esque character so we know he could play the loose cannon with the skills and the heart to match.

Casting news should prove very interesting once the Solo movies gets into gear.

Harrison Ford was 38-39 when Raiders of the Lost Ark started filming, 41 when Temple of Doom Filmed, 46 when Last Crusade filmed and 65 when KotCS was filmed. For at least the first three, he was fine when it came to age (and I thought he did a good job at 65, too). I don't see why they couldn't get a trilogy out of Chris Pratt, even if he starts the first movie at age 40. Its not like Indiana Jones is supposed to be some young guy right out of college or anything

Disney is doing the Indy reboot, right?

I don't think it's too far out of the realm of possibility they cast the same guy for both, especially if he does a really good job with one.

I also wouldn't be too surprised if they went with a relative unknown.

It's always cool to see something from early parts of a franchise brought back.

So cool to see the classic Stormtroopers being used in an actual Star Wars movie again, instead of just being a cosplay costume that people wear to comic book conventions. :D

No, no!! This is just footage from Fox's up-coming reality series: Troops, Miami.

Just kidding; But damn, now I want to see that.
