Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

That would bring up the question of, what was Obi-wan doing for 19 years? Sitting watching Luke grow up. Meditating on the Force with the spirit of Qui-Gon? Or did he slip away from time to time to do things? Special favors for Organa. Helping try to save other Jedi? Running a Rebel cell until things got too hot, or Vader started to get too close? Obi-wan was thought dead by the likes of Tarkin, and Vader had not seen him since Mustifar. He'd have to go really low key, or be really lucky no one put two and two together to figure out it was Obi-wan.

Maybe a tale on how he became known as Ben Kenobi?

Honestly I'd much rather Kenobi had more or less stayed put that whole time. Going by Yoda's TCW arc, training to become one with the force isn't something you learn to do in an afternoon and he really couldn't afford to let Luke get out of his sight. His whole job was to sit there and watch over the boy until the time was right.

An adventure comes to not quite so old Ben on Tatooine?

Ewan McGreggor is 44. Alec Guiness turned 62 when they were filming Star Wars. If one assumed Obi-wan was closer in age to Guiness in Star Wars rather than McGreggor in Revenge of the Sith, than Ewan is the right age to film for material just at the end of the Clone Wars, or immediately after arriving on Tatooine 18 years before "Ben" looks like Alec Guiness.

Which is weird.

My take on this is that Obi-Wan's number one priority is safe-guarding Luke. Communing with Qui-Gon is ultimately for that purpose. Contact with Senator Organa is unlikely; if there is any, then Leia is certainly not in the picture. There is no room for going off-world to help other Jedi. There is no room for running a Rebel cell to further the general cause of the Rebellion. There is no room for taking any action at all, unless it directly figures into protecting Luke.

He's there to be Luke's bodyguard he can't leave the planet. The novel Kenobi dealt with this, he actively avoids getting involved in anyone else's lives and the one time he does it completely blows up in his face and he learns his lesson.

Yeah and then there's that whole bit about Bail sending Leia to "beg" him to join the rebellion's fight against the Empire. Clearly he's hasn't been doing anything besides hermiting since he dropped Luke off with Owen & Beru.

A Western set on Tatooine, Ben and 6 other (some of them shady) guys defend the small town of Mos Whutavar against a gang of bounty hunters.

^Pretty sure they're already doing a Seven Samurai Star Wars movie (and have already done a TCW version.)

Yeah it was his job to watch over Luke, but I never saw that as meaning he could never leave the planet for any reason or that Luke required 24 hour protection (and if it was really that important he probably wouldn't have camped as far away from the Lars homestead as he seemingly did, and with no apparent means of transport).

Plus there's no reason he couldn't appoint someone else in the area to keep an eye on Luke while he went on a quick mission somewhere. Or he could even have some sensors set up to alert him to the presence of Imperials in the area.

One wonders. Force ghost Kenobi in the new Trilogy, but with McGregor doing the acting or maybe just voice over?

Make it happen, Lucasfilm.

Oddly enough, a seven samurai/Magnificent Seven style story was one of the very first EU stories, in the original Marvel comic stories released after the movie.

It's also the story with the big green alien rabbit that Lucas reportedly hated (But in retrospect is actually kind of cool in a Rocket Raccoon sort of way-certainly more so than Lucas's later "Cartoon rabbit ;) ).

Let's not forget the original Seven Samurai/Mag Seven "Star Wars-styled" movie:
Battle Beyond the Stars

aka

John Boy In Space

:D

expect a 4K release and probably IMAX

Parts of Star Wars: Rogue One and Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation were shot with Arri's Alexa 65, a large-format, 6K resolution model of Arri's popular Alexa camera
It was also used for 'Mission: Impossible 5' and 'The Great Wall.'

Avengers: Infinity War is set to be shot with it in its entirety, and Captain America: The Civil War will also use the Alexa 65 for an Imax format.
