Roddenberry Vault Star Fleet Access feature

The Roddenberry Vault blu-ray has a special pop up feature for several episodes (Space Seed, City, Tribbles). When I access this feature the video inserts are there, but the talking heads are muted. Nothing I adjust in the audio options bring their voices on.
Is this a defect of the disc, or am I missing something in the set up? Can anyone help?

It should engage an alternate audio track. Scroll through the available audio tracks and see if you can locate it.

The audio options include 7.1, Mono, French, and Spanish. No alternate track. I've also checked in the SF Access screen, and Episodes menu, to no avail.

It's the audio commentary that isn't coming through, even though I can see the commentators talking in their pop up box. That's the problem. Mute commentary is rather pointless, and I can't see an audio option to let me hear them. It's crazy, man!

Do you have another player to try the discs on? So you can play process of elimination on player vs. discs. I just bought the set today and haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

Where is the option at for "Space Seed"? I've got the first disc in and see no option anywhere for a pop-up commentary. I found an audio commentary for "This Side of Paradise" on disc one, no pop-up but the commentary plays.

Nothing on the case mentions pop-up commentaries.

Yep. Sure sounds like the regular box set.
AND if he is not hearing the "pop up"voices -- he needs to turn ON the "secondary audio" on his Bluray player menu.

OK, I'm mixing up which episodes on what sets have commentary, but I still can't hear them.
I do not have a second blu-ray player to check if it's the discs or the player, though I will go into the players audio menu to see if there is a 'secondary audio', but that strikes me as an 'user-unfriendly' complication.
Thanks for the feedback people.

The "secondary audio" on a Blu-ray player should be left "on" unless you are using higher than 5.1 audio.
The secondary audio is specifically for "pop-up" commentaries where the audio switches back and forth between the show's soundtrack and the occasional pop up dialogue.
But if you are set up for 6.1 or 7.1 sound the secondary audio is switched off and used for the "back" channels.
If you don't have 6.1 or 7.1 set up might as well leave secondary audio on.
I use 7.1 sound every day and almost never run across a disc with a pop up sound track -- so I do the opposite and leave secondary audio off 99.9% of the time.

Hmm.... that still sounds confusing.

Thanks for the tech info. My original question applies to the blu-ray set, not the Vault, as I have successfully listened to the commentary for "This Side of Paradise". Sorry for my confused question.

Also you might have to change the Bitstream. On the PS3 it is under the Video Settings, BD-AUDIO OUTPUT FORMAT (HDMI or OPTICAL DIGITAL), and I have mine het for Bitstream (Direct). You can also set it for Linear PCM. Don't set it for Bitstream (Mix) as that removes the audio from the Starfleet Access features.
