Rockne O'Bannon

But I think it'll be Gatiss because - criticize all you want - they have so far been picking showrunners with longstanding connections with the series: RTD was a lifelong fan who wrote a Virgin New Adventures novel; Moffat likewise except he wrote short stories for Decalog as well as the well-received Curse of Fatal Death spoof in the 90s; Gatiss not only is a Doctor Who novelist of longstanding, but he was also (alongside Nicholas Briggs, Bill Baggs and Keith Barnfather) one of the producers/writers/directors who kept Doctor Who-related productions alive during the 1990s through his involvement with spin-offs such as PROBE.
Gatiss is a possibility, but I think it's more likely to be Gareth Roberts. He has those same "longstanding connections with the series", plus I believe he has more experience on the production side of things thanks to his SJA involvement.

If Farscape 'made' SciFi, why did they dump it so unceremoniously?
Remember this is SyFy we're dealing with the same channel that canned Mystery Science Theater.

I'm actually in something of a minority (I think) because I actually tend to enjoy Roberts' episodes (Aside from the Unicorn and the Wasp) and yeah a production credit on SJA would likely help. Of course there's a long way between that and getting the job, even if he wanted it, and we still don't have a clue how long Moffat will stay (although I'm guessing till the end of 2013 at least)

I would rather Gatiss stick to doing Sherlock, which he does brilliantly rather than Who, his writing of which is OK. I think we owe him a big thank you though. Apparently (this is from a friend with BBC connections), when the BBC had a meeting with Gatiss and his fellows in the League of Gentlemen (which was one of their really big hits at the time) asking when they were going to do season 3, he replied with 'When are you bringing Doctor Who back ?'.

This was a little while before RTD got the go ahead...

I think the next showrunner debate may be a moot point anyway. With the cutbacks Dr Who Confidential (which is cheap) has been cancelled, Torchwood looks uncertain, SJA is sadly all done and Who looks like being scaled down. I wouldn't be at all surprised in a year or two if it was down to 2 or 3 specials a year...

Farscape is my all-time favorite show! I'd love to see what would happen with Doctor Who if O'Bannon decided to take over. My only request ... a sexy, Australian companion by the name of Claudia Black.

Aren't we crossing the line here? An Australian Doctor? The Doctor has to be played by someone from the UK, it's a known fact. And no, being a Commonwealth country doesn't count. Otherwise we open the door for a Canadian Doctor, and at that point you might as well just get an American Doctor.

This post is a work of comedy and does not reflect the poster's true beliefs on the matter at hand. It is meant to be a parody of a stereotypical internet "uber-fanboy." This poster in fact couldn't care if the Doctor became Australian, Canadian, American, or Martian. Though he may take issue if an elephant were cast as the Doctor.
