Rock TV Shows?

Australis

I'm looking for some tv shows about being in a rock band.

Right now I can only think of:

The Monkees (which was more about zany antics)

Rock Follies/of 77 (which is more camp than anything)

iRock (recent Aussie effort filled by a whiny, self-important, self-centered muso, v. dull).

I know plenty of movies, like The Rose, Almost Famous (to an extent), The Rocker and Still Crazy (a personal favourite). More interested in TV for now.

You guys k now of any?

The Heights, eh?

<runs off to Wikipedia>
The Heights is an American musical drama series that aired on the Fox network from August to November 1992. The series was produced by Aaron Spelling.

The Heights is centered on a fictional band (also called The Heights) made up of mostly middle-class young adults. Episodes regularly featured one of their songs.
Aaron Spelling? <shudder> Sounds dire with a capital IRE.

I liked the Partridge Family when I was, ooo, 9. Not so much now.

But we are on the right track! :)

Hannah Montana?

Jonas Brothers?

Big Time Rush?

Pretty much half of the Disney Channel?

"Z Rock" had its charms.

It was a comedy that just ended last year (lasted 2 seasons) about a heavy metal rock group that basically earned their money by also being a popular kids band, playing at birthday parties and the like.

Go away you silly, silly man. :D

As for the others, they all sound horrendous. I haven't seen any of the actors mentioned, barring Nicole de Boer.

Fuck that teen crap, I'd like something more adult. Hmmm, I have an idea.

About Z Rock. Fun fact: Aussie band the Cockroaches played the pub circuit in the 80s, but couldn't make a living from it, because they were faintly crap, so they supported themselves by playing kids parties during the day, under the name... the Wiggles.

Oh, btw, I LOVED the Banana Splits when I was a kid, I saw it the first time around, too. :D

All Together Now with Jon English as a burnt out rock/pop star?

Flight of the Conchords or whatever it was called.

The Archies. Josie and the Pussycats. The Brady Kids. The Pebbles and Bam Bam show.

Pebbles and Bam Bam of course, had been stars ever since babyhood, when they came up with the hit number "Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sun Shine In." (This lyric was later shamelessly stolen by Mountain for their 1971 song "Silver Paper".)

All Together Now was about someone who was past it and never gonna get it back.

Flight of the Conchords was... :wtf: Not so much about the music as the weird guys.

The others are all kid shows. Looking for something about adults. And the consensus is,,, there ain't none. Which means there's a gap in the market.

"A Year at the Top" starring Greg Evigan and Paul Schaffer. Canadian (1977).

IMDB said:
Greg and Paul are rock musicians who leave their home in Boise, Idaho for Hollywood. They find Frederick J. Hanover, a promoter, who has found a lot of famous rock musicians. However, Greg and Paul learn that Hanover is the devil's son and in return for a year of fame and fortune, they must sign away their souls.

A classic example of what I'm not looking for (no offence, chardman). I'm really looking for a show about making the music. A fictional version of Classic Albums crossed with Anvil, possibly, but with less drugs and more determination.

Another thing I hate is when a bunch of performers start out to achieve their dreams, and it crashes around their heads. Hey kids, don't try and reach the things you dream about, it'll all end in tears! Not just musicians, but artists of all stripes. But that's a conversation for another day.
