I just got an image in my brain about the crew holding a memorial for Trip in These Are The Voyages with a photograph of Trip doing something dumb is displayed while Nickelback's "Photograph" plays

Unfortunately, what might sound like a fun idea, the lawyers will often spoil the fun. When the lawyers weigh in, things usually end on a sour note. One big problem with that: the Fucking Lawyers(tm).
Most shows which use recognizable songs in their episodes can't use them in syndication or home release, because of rights issues. Look at what happened with WKRP in Cincinnati, Quantum Leap, etc.

Yes it was played for laughs, but there's literally no way to know what's going to come back into style or be popular in 200 years. Nobody would have guessed in Mozart's day we'd still be listening to his stuff now.^ The problem with that analogy is that while classical music is timeless, music like motorhead or what have you, is not. You immediately date it, and it would become less watchable as time goes on because of the specific cultural reference. This is why most space-based sci-fi tend to not make references to current-day culture. The fact that young Kirk was listening to the Beastie Boys in 2009's Trek was cringeworthy. There's no plausible reason why he would be.
