Some viral marketing for The Dark Knight had a Gotham Times letter to the editor from an Edward Nashton. Maybe that's the name they're using.
Well, it would help explain the amazing coincidence that a man who loves riddles would honestly be named E. Nygma. Edward Nashton slightly changing his name would make more sense; there's even a hint because he's still E.N. either way.
I was thinking something like this, but I thought Hugo Strange was a better fit as a profiler (and Nolan also likes to use those lesser seen villains as secondary characters - or in Ra's case the primary). How about Riddler as a profiler brought into help capture Batman, only he turns out to have ulterior motives?
Hugo ends up catching Batman and throwing him in the Asylum, but that ruins Riddler's fun. Riddler then changes tactics to break Batman out which leads to third act finale confrontation of Batman, Riddler and Hugo.
