Robert Picardo lived near me when i was a kid

I love peanut butter kisses -- the ones wrapped in black and orange waxed paper. I can only get them around Halloween, so I order 5 pounds of them and keep them in the freezer.

he was the guy with the smarties.. thats all he gave out...

Smarties are awesome, he now leveled up in respect.

Lol, I was going to say that Smarties are crappy Halloween candy.

I've heard of Divinity.

Jeri I have I think had those peanut butter candies, at least the waxy flavour came to mind when I looked at them. Are they better than Mary Janes which as I recall were also peanut butter?

Peanut butter. Is good.

teacake, pretty sure Necco is the company that makes both of them now. I like Mary Janes, too; and I could be wrong, but I think Mary Janes are just a tad firmer than peanut butter kisses.

However, since I keep mine in the freezer to keep them fresh, my peanut butter kisses are always hard as rocks until I let them melt a little. That's a fun experience, LOL. Juggling sweet frozen rocks until you can chew them.

In the South where we lived, Divinity was somewhat of a homemaker's point of pride. It's essentially a meringue, so it's tricky to make in high humidity -- and the South almost always has humidity issues. Dad loved divinity, and we usually got some as gifts around Christmas, when it's less humid. I don't think Mom ever hazarded a batch.

Mom didn't make it like a meringue. She'd mix it up, then drop tablespoon globs onto a cookie sheet, and I think it baked for a few minutes. So it was solid enough to pick up, and easily melt a bit in the mouth. But too much too fast, and you'd get a big sugar rush.

I don't remember having it since I was 14, but that must be wrong because I think one of her sisters made it for me after Mom died.

I don't see it much anymore either, but I also don't get to as many different stores these days.

I think it's old school candy these days. I suppose I could make it, can't be too hard.

I'm trying to remember the last piece of candy I ate. I think it must be a couple months.

And now I'm planning out what my next piece of candy will be.

It's incredible how much time my brain can happily waste.

Mom did a lot of cooking and baking, and even baked an angelfood cake the day she died. Her meatloaf always made my intestinal tract act up though.

I suspect I need a candy thermometer to make salt water taffy too.

Maybe I'll just buy some on ebay

I'm thinking those peanut butter things Jeri posted might turn up in October at Costco here. Costco keeps pumping out the US holiday fare even though we don't have US holidays but food is food.
