Robert McCall exhibit - Univ. of Arizona - March 2008

I just discovered this reading a story about the University of Arizona's celebration of their Phoenix Mars Mission, which will land in May of 2008.

Noted sci-fi artist, Robert McCall,, who deserves to be in this forum for his work on ST:TMP and 2001: A Space Odyssey, if for nothing else, will have an exhibition of his works at The University of Arizona Museum of Art starting this next March. The article doesn't state how long the exhibit will run or its start date, and there is no info yet on the museum's website, but usually these things go on for a few months. I'd assume they'd want to run it through the landing.

I have friends in Arizona I can visit. :)

All great artists, KirkTrekModeler, but my point was being able to see Robert McCall's paintings in the flesh, not over the Internet, in a book or in a magazine. I hope they have some of his old classics on display. You'd have to assume they would.

And, with any luck, the gift shop will sell reproductions. :)

You know, when this gets closer, we should schedule a meetup at the museum on a Saturday. Now there's an idea.

Oh, I totally got you there man! I was just adding in a few of my favs. I'd love to be there man. I went to the Van Gogh exhibit here in the Lou, when it came through and you're right, there's nothing like seeing it in person.

Meet up? That would be interesting. I went to the Vegas Con last year and told everyone I'd be there, especially a couple of people that seemed to have a *tude* towards me.

Anyway, none of the smack talkin freaks showed up, or met me...??? Captain Hawk was supposed to meet me in Quark's bar, but he was a no show...

I'll have to see if I can make it. Drop me a PM.

some of the science fiction world cons have had sf art retrospectives have often have not just sf and fantasy art but the more realistic work of people like mccall, bonestell, ron miller.
