Actually, he's shown up on SGU more than I expected. He really does come across as Young's boss, rather than an occasional cameo.

He's an awful, one note writer. He drove Atlantis into the ground when he became showrunner and wrote some of its worst episodes. His SGU episodes were also lacking, especially the three part finale.

I thought SGA season 5 was one of the better seasons of Atlantis, but maybe that's just me

I think it's more than alittle premature to be talking about let alone be worried about the third season since they still haven't been renewed for a third season. The move off of Friday night might kill the show, Caprica too for that matter.

Is Stargate dying?

Did SG-1 die when Jonathan Glassner left? This is no different.

I think when Glassner left, that was the beginning of the end (veeeery long death it's turned out to be). When Glassner was on the show, there were still glimmers of brilliance. There hasn't been so much as a spark since.

MGM needs to go under, and sell Stargate to someone who will reboot it and finally turn it into the series it could have been, but never was. The current bunch of hacks aren't doing anything worthwhile with the franchise, so why let them continue to spin their wheels?
