Hey all, sorry if this has been addressed already, but i don't think it has, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong... One of the big theories out there is the river was put in stormcage because she murdered the doctor, however, in "the forrest of the dead" she mentions that the doctor took her on one final trip just prior to her leaving for the library. Wouldn't that eliminate the doctor from being the one murdered?

No. That only eliminates the most boringly literal scenario. Perhaps she killed the Doctor later in his time stream than that date. Perhaps she killed him during that date. Perhaps River kills the Valeyard. Perhaps the Doctor is later resuscitated. Perhaps she killed a clone or an imposter. Perhaps he faked his death. Perhaps the Doctor feels dead inside after hearing of her intense hatred of bow-ties. Perhaps she told him a particularly hilarious joke.
She could have been convicted on circumstantial evidence.

Nah. Besides, he'd just forgive her in his next incarnation -- hence the new suit.
i guess my point is...the way the timelines supposedly coincide, an 11+ regeneration of him is still alive immediatly prior to her death, he knows she's about to die, so he gives her a sonic screwdriver, if she did infact murder him, wouldn't he be dead for good? as in not not have been able to rengerate?
We don't know if she murders him, or if it is even really him they're talking about. The line is likely setting up for a future story, let's see how that plays out before we start discussing how any of it is possible.
My theory: The next regeneration is caused by River killing the Doctor. This is somehow required to save the day and they both know it. For some reason, either by design or through the authorities not understanding regeneration, she gets convicted sent to jail for murdering him.
It couldn't have been during their first adventure, otherwise all those other adventures that fill her diary won't have happened.
Maybe she wanted a divorce and he said no, so she offed him?
Why are you assuming that those two events (River killing him and the last time River saw the Doctor) happen in linear order for the Doctor?
Maybe the last time River saw the Doctor in her life happened when the Doctor was in his 11th incarnation and the Doctor therefore wasn't killed by River until his 12th incarnation, or some other point subsequent (from the Doctor's POV) to River's relative final encounter with the Doctor.
In other words, the order of events for the Doctor was:
1. Tickets.
2. Death.
Yet the order of events for River was:
1. Death.
2. Tickets.

Well I'm thinking if you get put into prison for murder, there must be pretty good evidence that the person you attempted to kill is dead beyond all doubt, meaning there would have been evidence and if it were the doctor he would have regenerated in a short time span, based on previous regenerations, you make a valid point about the events not being in linear order, but im thinking two things here... one; she does infact kill the doctor, and he doesnt regenerate, which is the least likely of the two cause it doesnt fit with known events, and two; she kills some other person that is important to the doctor, which is why father octavian says "you don't want to know" to him.
Im sure I'm over thinking it but I enjoy bouncing ideas off of other people.

I just read a few days ago about a case where someone was convicted of murder and the victim was later found alive and well. Here's a page I just googled up with some examples.
That assumes that the jury/court/judge/whatever believes this completely different looking guy is the same person as the victim. If they didn't witness or have convincing evidence of his regeneration that would be a hard sell.
