River Song and Captain Jack

What would have been very funny would have been Jack hitting on Amy...just to see Rory's reaction...

Of course it might have been even more amusing to see Jack hitting on Rory for Amy's reaction

Agreed. I also think it would be funny if, for all of Jack's voracious appetites, the 11th Doctor just doesn't do anything for him and the Doctor feels a bit miffed about this, just on principle.

I've wondered about something like this for quite some time, how fun it might be for someone who has fawned over the Doctor in a previous regeneration(s) to show little to no interest in the current one (IE: Jack, Iris Wildthyme, River Song if she was to meet a future, or even a past Doctor [though with a past Doctor, he wouldn't know he was getting snubbed, just the audience would] or someone like that)

I had the idea that a "pre-doctor" Jack could show up - and meet his future immortal self. There could be 2 years worth of events, during which the younger Jack would realize that he wouldn't want to remember what happened. Older Jack would give him the "forget" serum which younger Jack gladly takes. Once he comes to, younger Jack blames it on the Time Agency and it sets off the sequence of events that lead to The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances.

Overly active imaginations can be fun. There's not much else to do between series. There aren't any Doctor Who books in my local used bookstore (I've looked).

Alex Kingston wants a River Song/Torchwood crossover!

I even sort of have my own fantasy. I think, for example, that she absolutely knows Captain Jack from Torchwood and, uh, I would imagine that they have been on some adventures, as well. And, uh, that's something that I'd actually quite like to sort of talk to Russell about.

Hmm, not sure about a series. The best things come in small packages, the occasional one off meeting would be fine I think!

Agreed. Although, I think it would sting hardest with Jack because he flirts with EVERYONE! And I can't imagine a single Doctor that Iris Wildthyme wouldn't fancy.
