Rise of the Apes - Prequel to Planet of the Apes

I hate the use of the word "Rise" in movies. Still not as bad as "Resurrection" or "Redemption" though.

Also, after seeing the original movie on TV when I was a kid...I always imagined (though I was wrong) that Charlton Heston was frozen for millions of years and that that was enough time for the apes to evolve and take our place.
This movie, and the Tim Burton one, make it happen a lot closer to our time. Which is a little sad, in a stupid little way for me. The far far distant future thing made the original movie even eerier for me.

It was only in the Charton Heston version of Planet of the Apes that the planet he ended up on was Earth. In the book it was a different planet (no statue of liberty at the end)

3955 is not that far...

Sorry, I was being confusing, I meant that in my young mind I thought that Charlton Heston's character was in cryo-sleep for millions of years and came out when apes had evolved on their own without any tampering from modern scientists.
I think I saw the original movie when I was 10, and didn't notice the ship's chronometer saying 3955.
