Risa question

Stephen!

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Has it ever been mentioned in recent Trek Lit what happened to Zek and Ishka? Were they killed when the Borg attacked Risa?

That's a good question! As far as I know, there hasn't been any mention of the pair since 2377.

Of course, if they were still on Risa when the order to evacuate came, I'm guessing Zek's rich enough to get them off. He probably has a private ship. He probably owns a private shipyard, at that.

So, no news, but to place Mayor Quimby's words in Zek's mouth:

"I'm too rich to die!"

I'm hoping he and Ishka show up soon...

Though, to be fair, Zek was. . . declining in 2377.

Having seen that happen to far too many aged relatives, Zek might not have lasted to 2381.

Good point :), and it certainly went through my head as I wrote the cheery answer above.

But if he has gone to the Blessed Exchequer, I think it would indeed be for reasons of age and declining health rather than Borg attack.

Let's hope we catch up with Ishka soon, so she can let us know.

I'm really hoping they didn't get Borged. At least they had long lives, in any case...

I may be remembering this incorrectly, and I don't remember where I heard/read it, but aren't the Ferengi somehow immune from assimilation? Or is it that the Borg have no interest in them? Or maybe i'm just remembering that the Ferengi are immune to Betazoids reading their thoughts. Either way...can anyone confirm:confused:?

^I don't recall ever finding out that the Ferengi are immune to assimilation, but I do remember a Ferengi being assimilated in Vendetta.

One of the personalities that Seven of Nine displayed via the Vinculum in "Infinite Regress" was an assimmilated Ferengi.

^I must have remembered wrong. Now that you mention it, I do remember that scene. The Ferengi was trying to buy his way out of the situation . Thanks everyone...

Maybe you're mixing it up with the Ferengi immunity/resistance to telepathy.

I think Zek was too wise to let anything happen to them; with his connections, he would have been LONG gone by the time the Borg showed up...

He's hanging out with Harry Mudd as an android on planet "Mudd"...
